Mechanice whine when clutch pedal depressed

Hey guys and gals, Ive noticed recently that whenever I depress the clutch pedal that I get a really wierd mechanical whining noise. The only way I can describe it is that it sounds exactly like the A/C compressor when it is compressing. This is my first standard car and I didnt know if this was normal or not, but its pretty loud. Anyone know what it is or what is wearing out on me? Thanks a bunch!

Actually it only happens when I press the clutch pedal. I searched a bit more and throw-out bearing is comming up a lot, could that be it? Other than that the pedal pressure is nice and stiff and there are no abnormal clunks that I can hear.

it could be pilot bushing, input shaft bearing(s), or TOB

it's the throw out bearing This makes noise when the clutch is depressed. The pilot bearing will make noise with the clutch not depressed. That means while you're in a driving.

A throw out bearing will only make noise when the clutch is depressed cause that is the only time it is being used...The pilot bearing will make a noise when the engine is idleing and in gear with the clutch depressed. This is because they are now spinning at a different RPM...
