You modified your throttle body for clearance didn't you?
Did you just cut the lip off or did you remove the vacuum lines on the bottom side as well?

I modified the throttle body to delete the traction control system. Most of the vacuum lines remained the same.

Aled - do you have any pics of how the car sits now? i have issues with lowering the car do the the sway bar spacers make the sway bar hit the front brace if it sits too low.

My buddy just told me today that you could just heat up the stock sway bar since it's solid and bend it flat like the sikky sway bar and have plenty of clearance. Give it a shot flicktitty! he's gonna send me picks of this later on today. I can shoot them your way if you're interested in checking it out.

turtle - that would be great. I'd love to see that.

I know people are running the sikky bar but I'd like to see clearance with a lowered car before paying for one. or doing something custom. I don't know if it's also the fact i'm still on 15's that fucks me over too.

Here's a pretty lame picture of how it sits now. I can get better pictures of the sway bar and it's clearance. I was pretty impressed with the quality and fitment of the Sikky sway bar. I need to adjust it a tad bit, however, no complaints yet.

really nice build man. you did it well and i really like how you did it all on your own. my 2jz s14 is the same color too. mean and green is a good combo.

two quick question though when you get a minute..
1 - what intercooler is that? i've think i've only seen ones that bend in like that on skylines.?.
2 - i'm also having front sway bar issues with my 2jz and was wondering why you opted for the sikky bar over the cheaper solution of using spacers? i've never seen the spacers mounted before so i am guessing that they take away from the overall rigidity of the sway bar.

great job on the car!

I purchased the intercooler from someone off Zilvia. I was told it's an Apex'i core; it's measurements are 28x9.5x4.75.

I looked into the spacers for a while, but didn't give them much thought after I found the Sikky bar. Sure, the price is a bit deterring, however, it's well worth it with the quality of parts included.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really liking that intercooler, might have to get one for one of my cars, thanks again.

Ahh that was so long ago it seems.
Cannot thank you enough for all the help on the car sir!

The car was incredible. Considering, I had roughly 100 street miles on it, and a brand new alignment/suspension arms/500 horsepower, I was thoroughly impressed with the car. I felt super confident heading into the event and fully accepted any engine issue that would come my way.

From the 1st two runs, which one of the videos posted above shows, I really had to just get used to the gearing difference. Once, I figured that I should enter in the middle of 4th gear at well, over 100, I was able to complete some solid runs.

Also, I surprised myself on how quickly I adjusted to all the added power and a proper alignment. My last event prior was August 2010, so it had been a while.

Starting to prep the car for Formula D Pro/Am in Las Vegas on August 26/27th. I'll be sure to keep everyone interested updated on here. Hopefully going through the oil cooler install, battery cut-off, tow hooks, new seat, and general safety/tech stuff.

Bit of an update for everyone.
Went down to Las Vegas for Formula D Round 6/Pro AM. Had a great time even thought the heat was almost un bearable.

Made friends with the wall though on my qualifying run. Was a real similar wreck to Kyle Mohan's in his RX8.

Entered, the top of 3rd gear. Rear bumper taped the wall on entry. Was going to send the front end in, so I did my best to rotate the car around. Pretty much slid backwards into the tire wall at around 40mph I'd imagine.

It's not too bad at all. Just cosmetic damage and the need for an alignment.

Starting to get it pulled out.

New decklid mounted.

Ordering a set of LED tails soon. I had planned on ordering a set for a while, this gives me more of an excuse xD.

Worst part was hitting my head on the fire extinguisher mounted on the roof. Suffered a mild concussion, but it happens.

Aligned the car today preparing it for an event this weekend.

I'll be sure to keep this thread updated with more progress.

For this winter, I have a few things planned:
- Driftworks GeoMaster Hubs
- New Hood/Rear Bumper
- HKS DLI Ignition System
- Fuel Surge Tank
- Oil Cooler, finally
- Saving up and hitting as many events as I can in 2012!

Cool build 1J is a good power plant, but seems you could have done this just as easy with an SR or RB...

It would kill me to put all that work in a car and then wreck it like that... but i guess thats drifting!

keep up the good work
