1/1.5/2JZ > RB26/25
JZ (twin or single turbo)You wont have trouble with the steering shaft in the way of you downpipe , 2.5l or 3l , more stroke on the jz engine = biger torque number Jz bottom end is bettre , ok flowing head ... Rb bottom end weak with oil drive isue , rb26 head flow +++more ... I saw test on flow beach on both heads I had 2 rb26 in my s14 and they blew caused by bad tuning !!! They can be good engine but you need to open them up and put big money (ex: crank upgrade and oil pump upgrade) JZ for you in the two choice you gave !

RB25's are great, and we have a RB25 mount set/driveshaft here if someone needs one, but they do have VTC Not nearly as hard to tune around as VVTI, but still variable timing.

it might be more convenient going with a rb since is nissan. you will already have a lot of other nissan parts laying around in case you need something really dumb though that is a minor thing to worry about and probably not a great argument. RB26 is really rare to see in a s chasis so if you want to be a little bit more unique you can go that route. 2jz's are obviously great engines so this is really just a preference choice.

^ agreed! i'd do it myself if i wasn't broke smdh. but i have a sr was in my s14 when i got it so i built t to see whats good. not upset but would've been happier with a 2j... all the parts in my sr to make 550ish would make 1000+ on a 2j. ehhh that will be my next swap

theres many ways you can go wrong. theres a reason that sr swaps are most common. easiest by far, it actually came in the car in japan, and easy accessibility to all the parts..you dont wanna be stuck with an rb25 or 26 thats missing one piece that no one has and if someone does its either expensive or jank.

or a VQ out of a z or g35, and on the s2k tip, j32 with s2k trany. if you're into hondas and vtec... im is.
very different to have a j swap under the hood. might even be the first s chassis |

This is a dumb question. Go read on both motors, find threads on swaps, set a budget and make a decision. Why does someone else need to tell you what is better for YOU?
