what would happen if you unplugged all of the trans sensors?

on an obdii s14 would your car still run fine with all of the transmission sensors unplugged? I'm just curious because I'm going to be doing the 5 speed swap but the trans has no sensors. I would like to be able to still drive my car around while sourcing all of the sensors.

Are you planning on continuously pouring transmission fluid through your shifter everytime you drive?

But in all seriousness, get the sensors, wire them up accordingly. Don't be lazy.

The sensors are there, they were cut however, and don't have enough slack to actually splice onto another end. The speed sensor can be plugged in but it's an s13 trans. The crank positioning sensor will also not be used.
I'm not being lazy, I can't put in new sensors if I do not have them. We have a streak of rain coming Friday and I want to get the transmission in by then. If I can run it fine without any of the sensors hooked up on the trans I'm going to knock it out while I have the time.

You'll need the crank position sensor installed and plugged in for sure. Did a 5 speed swap on a friend's car few months back, he only wanted the reverse and neutral switch hooked up. Speed sensor and crank position sensor are mandatory. No sense filling up the transmission with fluid to drain it all back out again when you get the correct sensors, just get the transmission installed, install the appropriate sensors then fill it up with transmission fluid. Then crank her up.

Was it because the crank positioning sensor? That's strange.

OBDII s14's have two. One is on the transmission and is (I think) only used for emissions and diagnosing misfires. The other one that is more like the CAS on an sr20 is located in the distributor. That's the one that is used for timing/ignition, etc.

^This fucking retard is correct. Many people run s13 transmissions on s14 motors and don't have an issue other than a CEL.

This is what happens when you run a transmission with no sensors. Don't do it.
