Watching Option videos and other assorted JDM dvds. But I remember seeing a yellow 180sx in one of those videos and that's what did it. Only problem was I couldn't afford another car at the time (around 98 or 99). Then I was starting to save some money for a few years and the drifting thing blew up. I got pissed cause I wasnt going to buy a 240 in the midst of the whole drifting craze. So here I am almost 10 years later and had gotten over the sr20 swap (was going to use it in my nissan hardbady) and had started reading up on LS1 engines and a buddy at work told me he had a 93 S13 hatch for sale with no engine or trans for $300. Picked up the LSx from him also and so it starts...........................

what got you into s13's - 14's?
Family has been into Nissan's for a while, but what got me was......the drifting shit, saw so many hatches around this time (2003 - 2004), not to many coupes, I wanted a S13 coupe so bad after that. Then I came across the S14 which I didn't see to many of back then, either, loved the look of the zenki! Got a S14 zenki after saving up for the longest time, sold it two weeks later, and got a S13 coupe. what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car. Locking my keys in my car when me, my friend, and this one chick went out to eat the week i got my s13 coupe. whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time nothing at all has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl kinda not really, but kinda....-_-, don't really care about that incident anymore...

what got you into s13's - 14's?
girlfriend was into rx7's, which got me into cars. i was too pussy to buy one since i knew jack about the cars at the time, so i settled for the next best thing. what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car posting a thread on zilvia mentioning a 'kane' (k&n) filter whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time yes, i paid a shop like 200 bucks to change the rear tranny oil seal. and it still leaked after they "fixed" it. has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl i guess that would technically be a yes; i'm still with that same girl like 7 years later. we have car buddies, we work on cars and she has like 3 FC's now. |

what got you into s13's - 14's?
my best friend got a SR'd s14 and i had no idea wtf that shit was. after looking into it, i thought 'oh shit this is pretty cool'. Plus the fact that I couldn't afford/find any 1999 Eclipse GSX either. I settled for one myself. what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car. stalling the second day i got it and rolling down a hill almost hitting someone behind me. whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time i regret buying Volks rims for my stock car as a first 'upgrade' 2k right there where i could have spent half that on some ghetto rota's or some shit. has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl i think so...? i'm not sure if my girl is with me because of my car or not. but whatever. |

Nissans have been a family thing for us. Growing up on Guam I had a couple cousins who had s13's and a neighbor who had a zenki s14 that was absolutely clean. I used to stare at the car in his driveway whenever i would leave or pull up to the house. My dad gave his 1985 200sx (s12) to me when I got my drivers license in 1996 and I drove that thing all thru h.s.
The mid-to-late-nineties on Guam consisted of mosly riced out Hondas with cut springs, bolt-on headers and exhausts, or slammed Toyota and Nissan trucks equipped with loud ass Flowmasters. The only thing people built their vehicles for at the time was street/drag racing. The emissions regulations aren't as strict as here in California and you could run a straight pipe if you wanted. My S12 wasn't fast enough to run with those guys but I enjoyed driving the hell out of it on the twisty roads and it was great on gas! I didn't really mod it, save for an exhaust. I heard about drifting from a h.s. soccer teammate of mine who was Japanese but my only opinion of it at the time was that it was just a waste of tires! lol I graduated H.S. in 1998. By that time, my younger brother (2 yrs younger) also had an interest in cars but he was more ricer. He had a 1989 2.0 Prelude Si that was molested with same cut springs and ricer add-ons. He could never touch me on the twisties with his cut springs but he would smoke me off the line in a drag race. We were just different drivers with different styles. I liked grip driving and he loved dragging. I loved Nissans and he loved Hondas. I moved to California that fall for school. Sadly, I had to leave behind my S12. The first few months in California sucked without a car. Luckily a friend at school said his dad had a car for sale but it was a shitbox and he didnt know what it was. I went over to check it out and upon looking in the driveway, I felt like I had seen a ghost. There sitting in the driveway was my old S12! Well, not my car from Guam but the exact same white hatchback! But it was automatic and the highest gear you could put it in was auto 3, but he only wanted $500 for it. Picked that baby up right away! I drove that car to work and school for a year and half before it got stolen in Cerritos- at a laundromat of all places! So come 2000, I haven't had a car for a few mos. when someone in my neighborhood put a silver zenki s14 se for sale for only $2000! I thought not bad considering the car's only 5yrs old. I've had the car since and she's still a blast to drive. I don't drift, though it's cool to watch all you guys do it! Just not for me. My pockets aren't deep enough to afford all the tires and upgraded parts. I might wanna try autocross once or twice. My gf always wonders why I don't just buy a newer car. I reply that I love not having a car payment. And when something major is wrong with my car, like a blown motor (I'm on my 2nd ka) I just take it to my mechanic and pay him. He's an ASE Master Technician so I have no troubles leaving it at his shop. Not to say that I don't know my way under a car. I just prefer to leave the major things to the pros who have much better tools than I. So I still live in L.A. with my dogs, my gf, and my mistress Silvia. =) /life story sorry for the long read guys.....well, not really. |

sorry missed the other questions;
what was your first embarrassing memory relating to your first S car. Got my rear windows smashed once. Was really more annoying than anything, but still it felt kinda silly driving around like that for a couple of days. whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time I kinda regret getting super-conservative offset CE28's (front in 17x8.5 + 25, & rear in 17x9.5 + 35), but they do the job just fine. has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl No way. some chicks enjoy driving my 240 for whatever reason, but it would be a stretch to claim it can create the impossible. the 240 is more a cock magnet than anything else. I've gotten the most female attention from my old miata, not that it produced any meaningful results. |

what got you into s13's - 14's?
I got into imports back when I was in 5th grade just that I really hated FWD Hondas (still dont like them but not as much as I used to) which everyone had. My dad had a pignose hatch which was his dd, I thought it looked cool. I started looking at the import mags but couldnt find anything (the only 240 I found was one in a JIC ad). My dad sold the car, I got my learners permit and bought a clean 91 coupe for $2300. Its currently my dd and in better condition than when I bought it. what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car It was the car I used when I was learning to drive stick whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time I stripped a thread in one of the holes for the passenger seat. (Im going to get it fixed at my job, I work part-time at Mckinny Motorsports) has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl Some what, a friend of mine likes playing with the headlights and she thinks it looks like an SW20 MR2. |

I used to read super street and shit back in the 8th grade. I saw a picture of daijiro yoshiharas coupe crashing into a wall at formula d. I thought his car looked bad ass.
When I turned 16 the only car I wanted was an s13 coupe. But then I had to sell it Probably get another one when I have the time for it. |

what got you into s13's - 14's?
My friend had and S13 and looked pretty cool in person and ran great. I also saw the d1gp event and thought it was badass. what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car I wasnt able to properly drive stick at the time and it would stall on me all the time. whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time Put a cheap ass welded exhaust on to the downpipe of the car. It was a pain to put on a bolt on exhaust later on. has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl It helped me take out chicks but nothing else. |

what got you into s13's - 14's?
I've always liked the way they looked. I remember ditching school to hit the mall and play Initial D back in HS. All my friends were honda guys, so I told myself not to get one. I bought my S13 coupe in 03 and loved every minute of it. From tranny swaps on my back, to busting knuckles trying to loosen 20 year old bolts. what was your first embarassing memory relating to your first S car? The first day I bought my car I was driving on the freeway to show my friend my car and someone cut me off bad, so still new to the rwd I pull back hard and spin out on the freeway in rush hour traffic. I remember being in the 4th lane and some how manuvering my car all the way to the shoulder while spinning out. My heart was pumping but it felt cool at the same time. I knew what drifting was before I got me car and said f*%k it get used to it. whats one thing you regret doing to your car during that newb time? I don't really have any regrets. has it helped you get laid or at least gotten you a girl? Nope. Just a bunch of guy friends. LOL |

had always been into cars. started looking around at import magazines when i was like 14. wanted pretty much any kind of import when i turned 16, but since i'm bad at saving money parentals got me a s-10. was still always into to the import scene and had some friends that had hondas, nissans, subies, ect. one friend has a s14 with a sr20. i really feel in love with the car but when i started looking i realized i like the s13 coupes so much more. found one with a bad motor and now i'm swapping in 95ka.
my regret is not researching and planning enough ahead of time. this swap is taking way to long |
