I need some opinions....turbo upgrade

I'm half way through my project 240....My S14 SR is coming this week and will be on my engine stand being prepped/cleaned for a while. I want to upgrade the turbo to possibly a GT2871R or Disco Garrett in the future but thinking that it'd be easier to add while the engine is out of the car on the stand.

I don't have money yet for an Enthalpy tune, 550cc injectors, Z32 MAF if I buy the turbo soon...so given that...

Will it be ok to run the turbo on the S14 until I get the larger injectors, tune, MAF. The injectors, MAF, ecu could be done with the engine already in the car but turbo would be a pain.

What do you all think about the setup and or process of installation.

Thanks

If you leave it at stock 7 psi and have some kind of fuel management to dump some extra fuel for the bigger turbo, it should be fine. Remember 7 psi on a GT2871R is not the same 7 psi volume of air off a stock T-25. If your going with an entalphy tune, im pretty sure scotts gonna tell you to go 740cc instead of 550s. Atleast thats wut he recommended me.

know what...i'm just going to do it right and at the same time...

i don't want to rush everything just because the motor will be out of the car. i'll wait until i have the funds to do a complete upgrade rather than just do part by part.

I have an S14 SR, t3/t04e, RSE ecu, and scott didn't tell me to switch from 550s to 740s. Even after I asked him. And my turbo is bigger than either these in question....

Anyways, yeah i was about to post... changing the turbo and/or manifold when the engine's in teh car is no big deal, just takes a bit more time, and its harded to reach the exh. mani nuts. I def. suggest taking the whole manifold out, and swapping turbos once that's out of the car, then putting the mani and new turbo back in... way easier. Trust me, even with a top mount, i still do that!
