Raf's 1jz zenki backyard build

Whats up Zilvia, My name is Ashraf, 20 years old & going to school for mechanical engineering and work full time at a diesel truck shop.

Had my first 240 at 16 and crashed into a pole. First car being rwd, no lsd, driving on black ice with no experience, crashed it a few weeks after owning it. After the 240, I had a 07 si to drive around for a year, then switched it up and got a 03 350z which made close to 400whp on a nitrous setup.

Decided I want a project car now to keep me busy for a while so I picked up a 95 shell on my birthday last year with almost no rust, no front end, pretty bad interior and no drive train.

The plan is a 5-600hp 1jz street / track car.
I'm not a drifting person, more of a lock it up on the highway guy.
Trying to get the car running and tuned by the end of this year. Will hold paint off till 2017 due to funds.

The shell, it came with no front end parts and a stock se wing. I pieced together a zenki front end and found a oem kouki wing on ebay japan for $175usd shipped

Brought the engine home sometime during the last week of January this year. 1jzgte non vvti with auto trans out of a chaser. I'll be using a 5spd z32 na trans with adapter from collins. Not a fan of the r154.

Got the z32 trans for $100...needs some cleaning.

Removed the auto trans and got the motor up on a stand. Removed both manifolds and stared the tear down. I'll be throwing in all new gaskets, oil pump, water pump, tensioners, pulleys, belts, cams, springs & retainers. Basically going to freshen up the motor and make it look pretty before it gets dropped in.

Test fit my modified manifold. Welds have been cleaned up, ports cleaned up, braced it and had a t3 flange welded cause I'm going with a holset he351 turbo. Also picked up a old school tial external flange type wastegate and cleaned it up a bit.

Holset he351cw...good for 700hp. Should spool quick as it has a similar exhaust size as a hy35 but a compressor side slightly bigger than a hx35. Needs to be clocked

Took the head off to get hot tanked and glass beaded. Also hot tanked the lower intake manifold runner, upper and lower oil pans and oil filter housing. Just to get things cleaned up. I had them done at machine world in LI NY.

Removing crank pulley with sst tool

Painted the block while the other parts were at the shop getting cleaned up. Also decided to powder coat the upper oil pan, turbo compressor side and lower manifold runner where fuel rail bolts on to. Will post pics of them once I get them back. Pic of the painted block. Used VHT Gloss Black Engine Enamel

Finally all the stuff I ordered from driftmotion came in.

ARP Headstuds

Brian Crower spring & retainer set

Brian Crower 264 camshafts

Tomei adjustable cam gears

New oem serpentine tensioner and timing idler pulley

Pulley set

Rebuilt 160amp alternator

Timing and serpentine belt w/o AC

Timing tensioner

Oil pump

Water pump

Also picked up some gauges and mounts / brackets from enjuku racing

AEM boost and wideband. Still need to buy a oil pressure and maybe egt gauge

Got 2 AEM fuel pumps for a deal locally. Don't know if I want to run them now after doing more research. I want to run e85 but these say they're not recommended for it. Any opinions guys? Part number 50-1000

More deals, got this cx front mount for 50 bucks on craigslist...its pretty big

New Vibrant turbo back. 3inch inlet & 4inch tip. $60 bucks shipped from the supra forums on facebook

CTSV 4 pot front calipers. Randomly searched for brembo calipers at 3am one night and found these as a pair in a scrap yard in Ohio for $150 shipped.
Also have 300zx tt rears...will get a pic after rebuilding them

Apexi avcr boost controller with boost by gear with solenoid and harness. Got locally for $200 which is a steal

Greddy oil catch can

Energy suspension poly bushings
subframe, diff, rack, rlca and I think flca

Got a set of Authentic bride digo 2 seats and 4 point takata belts with cam lock

That's pretty much most of the parts I currently have, still need a lot more things....slowly but surly.

Got the head back and did a quick mockup to see how things were looking.
Also picked up a drift motion intake manifold. I know people say these wont clear the bmc, but I prefer this style manifold over stock, it flows slightly better, just might have to modify it a bit towards the back or run the bmc delete.

DriftMotion finally sent out my OEM 1JZ full gasket set after being on back order.
Will update in a few days once I get the parts back from getting powder coated. Will put the head back together in the mean time.

Stay tuned.

**Update**

Ended up building the block. CP pistons stock comp and tomei forged H beam rods
ARP main studs, ARP rod bolts, stock crank, polished and rebalanced. Had a local shop help with the block build, spent about a 6 nights helping them at the shop.

Completed the head build myself. BC springs and retainers in, OEM headgasket on, shims adjusted, and BC 264 cams locked in and ARP head studs.

Finished up the motor during one weekend. Had intake manifold, lower manifold runner, oil pans, tstat housing, valve covers, turbo, and oil filter housing all powder coated at my close friends shop. T&R racing in queens NY. Also had them do my ctsv and 300zx brembos. Colors are aluminum silver, double gloss black, and tropical teal.

Had a vband welded on my vibrant muffler, added a baffle to the greddy catch can and welded -10 fittings and a 3rd fitting to get vacuum.
I highly recommend the shop Street Lethal Motorsports out in lindenhurst LI. Great guys, great prices, amazing welds, and the best part is they're open late.

Engine is pretty much complete now, just gotta pop in a few sensors & injectors.

Went with a comp clutch stage 4 6 puck sprung.

Will work on wiring in the mean time, gotta get the interior cleaned up and prepped for a cage.

Painted engine bay wrinkle black. Hacked up the bumper support to fit the front mount.

Will work on gutting the interior out and cleaning it up.
Front and rear suspension is out. Have new arms and bushings to go in.
Gonna pop in the new walbro 450 e85 pump I got and start running new fuel lines

I'm well over 12k in this build already with parts, and services done if anyones wondering about price lol =(
Hopefully it'll be worth the money and effort when its done.

Need advice on a few things:
-Will this 450lph walbro pump in tank be enough? Or should I run a 255 inline as well? Shooting for 550-600 on e85.
-Car was an original abs chassis. I deleted abs and have a 300zx master with the 3rd port. Should I run new hardlines for the front calipers? Or do custom braided lines?
-Stock front sway bar clears the front sump JZ pan? Or do I need a sikky swap one?
-Has anyone had issues with z32 na rear Diff with cars making high power?
