what is that part?

Hi,

Does anyone know what's the name of this black box? and where can I get it from other than dealer? how much does it usally cost?

My car is 96 240sx. It is right under the fuel tank.

Hi,

This is a 96 240sx, and it's something relate to the emssion system. My engine check light is on and my technician guess it could be that problem.

I believe that's the charcoal canister. If so, then yes, it is emissions-related.

that's the evap canister. and it's not below the fuel tank either.... the fuel tank is further to the left, in the middle of the car.

Yah I always wondered wut the fuck that is. When i did my swap that shiet didnt hook up to anything from the ECU spot. I thought it had something to do with the fuel pump cuz theres a line that comes from there. I guess it is the Evap for the tank, i always thought it had something to do with bumper shock absorbers.

as far as i know that's the evap canister and it's not located in the engine bay. i went back to the fsm to make sure, and that's what it shows it being. if you don't believe me check out this scan from the fsm.
