It always baffled me that people paid such stupid money for the JDM Green Harnesses.

Most likely don't realize it, but Takata makes seat belts and airbags for all sorts of cars and makes. Recently many manufacturers have been having millions of recalled Airbags - the manufacturer?

It's new/old news. I believe it started a while ago (2013/2014 if i remember), but more companies are pulling away from takata, and they have a nice 70 million dollar fine they have to pay over the next 5 years

I agree with you here. While the Takata harnesses do look nice, from a practical standpoint, you can get a similarily SFI rated harness from RaceQuip, G-Force RCI etc. for less than half the price. That's more money to actually go racing. That's why people buy harnesses right?

Actually like was the latest update. I've hated Takata since 2007 when I had to deal with them professionally as a customer. (They supplied my plant seat belts).

FYI, Takata also owns Schroth.

I have been using Schroth harnesses forever. Never paid much attention to the green Takata harnesses, but never had much to say about them.

As for the airbag problem, whoop dee doo. I've removed airbags from all of my vehicles. Last thing I need in a collision is an airbag blowing up in my face. Not saying they dont save lives, but I'll take my chances without one.

On Takata's instagram they have a harness installation instruction that shows the harnesses bolted to the floor of the backseat, I replied with the typical "isn't this unsafe at that angle/spinal compression" comment and Takata pretty much played it off and were like no you're good. And many people proceeded to tell Takata they are wrong, just saying Takata seems to have like an I don't give a fuck attitude as long is it looks good/is fashionable. Their priorities seem questionable. They're a damn safety belt company not a fashion designer.

As a tech, we have to deal with hundreds, if not thousands of airbag recalls at the dealership. Who has to take out dashes and install remedy airbags? Me. Damn you Takata. Will go to TechTeam or Sabelt for my belts from now on.

I really dont see what the big deal is, its a fucking seatbelt. Schroth, Takata, Fujimoto, Kakimoto, Shang Tsung... I dont give a fuck what the brand is, as long as they are easy to adjust and strap my ass down in the car.
