Search unsuccessfull: Fiberglass Hatch...Does it exists?

I could have sworn I saw some posts a while back about fiberglass hatches, but I can't find anything. I don't think a carbon fiber hatch is worth spending $700 on, but I can't find a Fiberglass one.

Anyone know?

Yes, they exist. However, they're probably not what you're picturing. Instead of an OEM style, they are shaped sort of like the back of an MR2, with a flat deck and vertical rear window.

you'd be shucking a lot of weight goin with a CF hatch AND you'd still be aerodynamic. putting a drop off right there where the fastback is supposed to start is gonna raise your drag coefficient.

so what would get the better weight reduction. The fiberglass hatch or the lexan windows?

I think the fibreglass hatch would probably get you the best weight reduction but I've never weighed the hatch glass or anything before so I wouldn't know.

companies in JPN sell CF doors. Companies in So Cal make CF doors for around 600-1200 for the set. You would have to leave your car while they one-off the doors. Why go CF doors, get a cage with NASCAR style bars and cut the inner door shell. GTP sells CF hatches and RaceonUSA, don't expect great fitment with those pieces, as they are race-only parts along with lexan glass. ***reminder if you go with lexan you will prolly have problems with hazing of the lense and other things, that come along with having lexan windows. You would prolly save nearly 40 pounds or more.

lexan will save more weight than the fb or cf hatch. the cf hatch is still ncie, but on the oem hatch, the glass is what makes it heavy. thats why the coupe is about 50lbs lighter than fastback.

Why? FRP is just as light and easily paintable. Unless you like the whole ghey CF look.

Chargespeed makes a CF decklid, Rasty Japan makes FRP doors, decklid, and hood. Avante makes FRP body panels and acrylic windows. SPI makes CF doors. Etc, etc.

And all this could found by using...the internet. Same place you can go to to learn how to type an 'a' in the word 'and'.

You die. And then you won't come back here asking a bunch of stupid questions.
Damn, that's a good idea. Maybe we should push for more usage of this stuff.

I love how R240 is usually such a timid character, you've been getting riled up recently by all the idiots! Charge speed offers a fiberglass hood, and hatch. Thats allready been said but I'm saying it again because I'm going to get and it and I'm excited so suck my balls......I'M!!

lexan windows are friggin stupid to run on the street. obnoxiously dangerous and are good for RACE ONLY... I compromise alot but woudnt be running that ish if I were you unless its a track car. that being said they also haze like previously posted and wear/pit more than regular glass. I wouldnt think bothering with the cf hatch would really make alot of weight savings since the hatch is 90% glass with very little sheetmetal all around... my guess going cf with the stock glass would net you 15lbs loss... if that.
Cf is a better material than frp in several ways, one of them being its stiffer if made right.
