FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE HITS TOP OF "E" NO FUEL LIGHT

sup, I just got my 240sx couple of months ago. My first time this weekend driving it until the fuel needle hit below the last "dot" and sat ontop of the "E" mark. I noticed that the fuel light didn't come on at that point. Just wondering if my indicators not working or does that light activate at a different point?

Mine would go like half a centimeter below E before the light came on. You're golden.

it activates lower than the E mark. IIRC (someone correct me if i'm wrong) the entire tank is like 15 gallons and if you fill from the needle being at the E mark you'll fill up 12 gallons...so about 3 gallons left methinks.

edit: i just checked socal240sx and found this http://www.socal240sx.org/faq/images/90c.jpg

15.9 gallon tank
I usually can only fill 12 gallons from the "E" line Anyone get anything different?
So that means we have nearly 4 gallons to go when on "E" crazy...

yeah my light comes on well below E as well.
i think the s14's have like a 17.x gallon tank or something close to that. i know ive gotten damn close to 500 miles on a tank without that light coming on.

Yup.. mine all of a sudden one day quit lighting up. So, like the thread says, what's wrong and how do we fix it?! Is it just a simple burned out light?

Keep driven it and have a spare can of gas on the trunk beacause you will need it...I driven around with the low fuel light on for a many miles, yes there is still plenty of gas after the light comes on.....

funny. i remember asking myself this same question when i first got my s14.
I would be below the E line and still no light.
I always thought the tank was 14.5gal. That's how much i fill up on a full tank.
s14 fuel capacity is 17.2 gallons
s13 fuel capacity is 15.9 gallons

So that means that I've been doing the math wrong on my MPG. I figured out 25mpg on my SR.

How do you do the math wrong? You just fill up, see how many miles you go, and go back to the same station and fill up again. Then divide the amount of miles you drove by how many gallons it took to fill up. That isn't dependent on knowing what capacity your fuel tank is.
