RB25 s1- s13 starting issue

alrighty guys took a run to the store i went in and came out i go to start it and bam wouldnt start. some cool guy had to push me so i could bump start it and it started perfect that way.
so i got home shut it off went to start it again still no start, unplugged the MAFS it still wouldnt start.
so right now im waiting for it to cool down and im going to try and see if itll start if its cooled down and also im going to pull codes then try to reset ecu.
any ideas on why it would only start if bump started and not by the starter? im guessing its electrical or a spark problem

you lost bro? or maybe its my bad grammer so excuse me.
simply put, the car did not want to start with the key so i had to jump start it (someone had to push the car then i pop the clutch to start it)it started fine that way, but would not start with key to start position.

update- car cooled down= COLD START
so with the car cooled down i went to start it with the key and it started fine. so after i let it warm up to operating temp then turned the car off and restarted it did this process a few times started great everytime.
could it be my ignitor taking a crap on me?

He's making a point that if you're car doesnt wanna start but started up when it got pushed/jumped, then first thing you'd check is the damn starter. So pull it out, get it tested. Next time it does it, hit the starter with a hammer, if its start, time for a new starter.

When you try to start it and it doesn't, does the starter click? Or does it try to crank but not turn over?

sorry about not explaining more, it cranks but just wont start.it just cranks and cranks. it always had a hard starting issue. it takes excessive cranking to get it started.

Any luck fixing this issue yet? My RB25 has recently begun being slow to start. It takes about five seconds of straight cranking before it even fires and then it'll have a low, stumbling idle for about two or three seconds. After that it'll run perfectly fine, not a single stutter. I'm afraid my starter is on it's way out Probably partly due to the fact that my alternator has been dying and I've been starting the engine with a half charged battery.

no i have not, im lucky if i get it started. i tried cleaning my engine to chassis ground and fixed a mafs wiring issue but still no luck. next im going to try and play with the coilpack grounds and replace the ignitor then hope for the best. if that doesnt work ill probably get an EMS an tune the startup from their. let me know if you come up with anything.

Sounds like ECU, That what my buddys RB25 did. Found a burnt resister on the board causing intermittent no start while cranking but would pop start all day every day. Good luck man.

i doubt it because i can hear it fire a set of pistons and then just continue to crank until i turn the ignition off and then back on to try and start it again but ill take a look in the ecu, thanks for the input

anyone else have had this similar problem?
-car has fuel pressure 35psi with vac. and like 43psi without vac.
-car has spark, runs great when reved up to 12psi boost.
-idles weird sometimes idle is high and sometimes its low.
-sometimes car will shut off when it warms up to a certain temp

Are you sure you have spark when you're trying to crank it? I'll check to make sure by taking a plug, putting it back to the coilpack, ground the coilpack, have somebody crank the car, see if you see a spark across the plugs. Do this on each cylinder.

Then check for fuel injectors pulsing. Get a really long screwdriver, put the end on top of the injector, put your ear on the end of the handle while somebody cranks the engine. You should hear the injectors click on/off.

i know the injectors are working, ive turned the CAS by hand and heard them clicking and also have done the screwdriver on the injector trick. as for the spark i still have to check. it might have a weak spark while cranking not sure as what would cause this? bad grounds? bad ignitor?

so pulled my fuel rail to check for leaking injectors and there was none.

BUT what i have noticed is that i did not hear my fuel pump prime every time i turn the ignition on. so i swapped the egi and egi pump relays just to see if it made a difference and sure enough i hear the pump priming almost every time now. i have not got around to starting the car up again, but i believe this is my problem with the no start and dying hear and there and maybe but probably not my solution to the hard starting issue. ill keep this updated any advice would be great
