Hey,
I am new to the board and have some questions about the 240. Here is  alittle about myself. I am 16from so. cal im gonna buy a 240 s13 it will be my second car, the first one was the 93'Ford escort yes i still drive at and hate it. Well now on to the questions. Is there anything i should know before buying the 240 s13? What can a stock 240 keep up with. (till at least I get some money for some mods)? How much is a CA and SR engine swap which one is better. I heard the CA has potenail (like what kind?).Hmmm and finally what are some mods i should start off with? Oh yeah I forgot does anyone have any info on the venom python 400 saw it will give up to 24% more hourse power? How is it on the 240? Please help a guy out with the questions, Thanks for reading. Peace

Ok here goes...btw welcome!:biggrin:
'89-'90 S13's had the weaker SOHC motor with about 140hp and IMO an uglier front bumper &gt;&gt;ducks as transient throws a quick left hook&lt;&lt;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>. &nbsp;These early 240's also had some timing chain problems that were supposedly fixed with the following: &nbsp;'91-'94 had the more powerful DOHC with 155hp. &nbsp;
If it were me, I would do some suspension work before worrying about fooling with the engine. &nbsp;240's handle great stock but also benefit alot from a good set of aftermarket springs/struts...go ahead and throw in a sway bar(s) and some strut tower braces, too. &nbsp;As for the CA and SR, I'm not sure really which has more potential...but the CA's initial cost is cheaper. &nbsp;Check out www.unstable-hybrids.com for some info...maybe send them an email when you're ready for the swap. &nbsp;I personally plan to go with a CA sometime in the future. &nbsp;If you're planning to swap out the engine, you don't want to modify the stock one, but you can get an exhaust...it should fit right up to the SR/CA engines b/c I think JDM and USDM cars use the same exhaust mounting points...but if not, it would still be easy to match up with a custom downpipe. &nbsp;Don't get anything like a header, intake, cams, etc. b/c those won't transfer to the CA/SR's. &nbsp;And don't buy into that 24% more hp crap...it might gain you a couple of horsies on the stock engine, but I wouldn't waste my money on it now. &nbsp;Later on when you have a modified engine, an ignition system might be of more benefit.

hey man, im in on the 89 bumper too...
i got an 89
just not a 89 motor, (1995 SR20DET.... shhhhhh!!!! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> )
i think that the 89 coupe was the hottest car around, the advanced design enginerring of Nissan Corp. was ahead by atleast 6 years, the 89 240, has the style of atleast a 95 automobile...

NISSAN ROCKS!!! (note: Nissan Corp. is the only manufactured car, that is rising in large amounts of horsepower, while the others are still at small hp)

the '91 bumper really isn't all that bad. i own a '91.. well i kinda did. right now its just sitting in my yard. lol. it doesn't run all that well after i hit that #### telephone pole. i tell you those #### things just jump right out at you! i'm trying to get an '89 or at least a '90. and i also wanted to comment on the s13 coupes. personally i think they're ugly and would go for a hatchback any day. comments anyone? :-)

Thanks for the reply's all. I think the fastback look alot better than the coupe. Only reason I like the coupe is because its a 240 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>. Anyone else have some info on the venom python 400 chip? Peace

Oh...sorry. &nbsp;For some reason I was thinking that was an ignition system. &nbsp;So never mind what I said in the first post. &nbsp;As far as chips/ecu's, the most reputable I've heard of is the JWT ecu. &nbsp;Can't say anything about the Venom chip b/c it's obvious I haven't heard of it. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
