1uzfe swap questions!
So I am running across a 1990 Single cam car with no motor or trans , super clean shell, and getting it for the free.
Also I have a Sc400 1uzfe motor, trans wiring harness and ECU to go with it. I'm not extremely worried about the wiring , because it seems to be baby simple. The main thing I really run dry on is Speedo/tach. And will i be able to use the factory manifolds on the 1uzfe. Also fitment. Anyone have a take on this? I"ve searched but these don't seem to be TOO popular of swaps. And this is the quickest way I know to get a response.

I would be running the stock cluster. I'm not 100% opposed to running an aftermarket one like sunpro or something but..I'd like it to look as factory as possible.
I"m just worried about fitment , and factory manifolds.

You probably can use the factory manifolds but I know that Brett Collins (swap1uz.com), uses tundra ebay headers cut to fit. All 1/2/3 uz exhaust ports are the same.
He also sells adapter plates which allow you to use your KA24DE transmission which means you can also use your stock driveshaft. He makes a mount kit as well which I believe is under $300. As for the tach/speedo, i dont know. I know that LS guys use a dakota digital box that recalibrates everything but I dont know. Read this. http://zilvia.net/f/builds-builds-on...s14-build.html

Well I do know since I'm running a 1jz
if you run the stock cluster you need a converter for the tach Speedo or run an aftermarket cluster and just wire up accordingly if you go the aftermarket route which I might do, it's quite easy to make a "stock looking" cluster or you could always get someone go make it for you. There is a guy on here that does it for 200$ just don't remember his u/n as for the manifolds I can't answer that question. Good Luck man |

But from what I tried to read, to retain the factory Ka trans, you'd have to buy the kit ( which you said is 300) and i'd have to source out a shit ton of other parts, like clutch disc's and other misc things to make it work, which made it super expensive and kind of not worth it.

You have to find a clutch disk and pressure plate anyway, no 1UZ came 5 spd from the factory. Unless for some awful reason you wanna run the auto. Honestly it's not that expensive. KA24DE trans - $100 or less, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch - $600ish (way cheaper if found used), mounts - $250 or make your own, adapter plate - $250 - 300.

Well, for starters to have the car up and running, the only real things i worry about are if the factory manifolds will fit inside the 240 bay, and clear everything.

I'm just biased and say go 1jz, half the cost same power and you can still hate on all the LS1s. |

Well, I drive a LS1 car daily, that isn't my route.
I litterally have a friend who needs a shell taken off his land. And he has a wrecked SC400 sitting next to it that ran, but he wants scrapped. So life handed me lemons, and i'm trying to make it into lemonade. I just don't want to get the motor in the bay to find out nothing fits.

I'm sure that the factory manifolds will most likely contact the steering shaft.
You have to mod the manifolds for sure it's not like it's just gonna fit.

but seriously. Not every thing is going to be a piece of cake but if your getting all this for little to nothing I dont see the issue. It should fit but if it doesnt hell make it fit. |
