GTX3067R or GTX3071R
Hi,
I have a S15 Silvia (im from New Zealand) and im thinking about changing my turbo as i hate the amount of lag it has, its just not enjoyable on the street at all. Current setup is: HKS 1.2mm head gasket ARP head studs Kelford valve springs and retainers Kelford 266/270 duration, 11mm/11mm lift Sard 850 injectors Walbro 500hp fuel pump Tomei FPR RaceFab T3 top mount manifold Garrett GT3082R .83 Turbosmart 38mm wastegate Front mount intercooler 3" down pipe 3" exhaust with 1 resonator and 1 rear muffler Power FC Currently makes 306kw @ 20psi at the wheels on BP98 octane fuel. Im not getting full boost untill about 5000RPM!! I basically want the most responsive T3 turbo that will still make around 300kw or less and come on boost at 4000RPM or under. Main reason why i want to stick to T3 is so i dont have to change my manifold and modify everything. So the two options i thought would be suitable is a Garrett GTX3067r .63 or a GTX3071R .63 ........maybe even a GT3071R .63. The GTX3067r is really appealing to me but i just cant find any data on the web for people who have used them on a SR20DET. All opinions and feedback are welcome. Thanks |

Although it is not a T3 one, I personally used this on my SR20 and it performs just like what you are looking for (no lag).

gtx2867 or gtx3071, naturally the smaller the turbo the more responsive it is at the expense of top end power. 3067 isn't worthwhile imo, as it's just a 2867 with gt30 hotside, gains would be marginal over a 2867. It's also worth looking at twin scroll housings as it would allow better top end while retaining good spool characteristics, but it would require a new manifold if you're not already set up for twin scroll.
