If you notice, when the Veyron actually starts racing on the second round, it's beating the GTR. Lets put the GTR into the 225mph+ territory where the Veyron is at home and you'll see an aerodynamically inferior GTR getting smoked.

You will never get to drive 225 mph. I'll take the GTR. Plus the GTR isn't hideous.

The GTR and Veyron are both ugly ass cars. But the Veyron is ugly so it can do 250mph, the GTR is ugly just because it's ugly.
There are plenty of places you can take your car to do 200+. |

Well, it's worth another 90k of mods on there as well, so I guess it's still a deal.

I could care less about the top speed of a Veyron. It's ugly, and even if I could buy one I wouldn't. However I will never be able to buy one. A GTR on the other hand is within actually attainable.

Not personal class, but there is such thing as a classy vehicle. The GTR isn't, it's a boy racer's fantasy.
Don't get me wrong, I think the GTR is an amazing car, but saying it's better than a Veyron just because a highly modded GTR beat a Veyron from a roll up to X speed, doesn't mean it's a better car. Better value for money? Sure. But it's not always about value, it's about exclusivity too. |

And that is YOUR opinion about exclusivity. I could give a fuck about exclusivity. I'm a bang for your buck kind of guy, which is why the Veyron does nothing for me. For that kinda dough I'd much rather have a Hennessy Venom GT.

You are thinking small-time, like most of us, maybe with a slightly above average income. But if you have the money for a Veyron, you already own a home or twenty, have a huge net worth, a garage full of other cars, and more money than you know what to do with. What does the man who already has it all do? He's buys the most expensive most exclusive hyper-car in the world. I'll bet there are a few Veyron owners out there who also have a GTR.

I totally agree. You can't buy class. That's why I'll sack ride the Z06...it's equal to the GTR on track, and half as expensive to own in the long run. Plus if you want to get into the modification game, I think we all realize the awesomeness that is LSX.

You can't compare drag coefficients unless you know frontal square feet. It's another useless thing magazines have been batting around for a while.

So what you are saying is drag has no effect on a vehicle's performance or stability at 100 mph+?

This is a simple Drag Equation. p= mass density of the fluid (air density in this case) u=velocity of object relative to the fluid. IE how fast is the object moving through the air. Not over the ground. Cd= Much halabalooed drag coefficient. A= Frontal square area of the vehicle. IE if you put a camera 10' in front of the car 6" off the ground. Everything you see in that photo is frontal square area. (this is a simple equation that does not take into account things like wings, tires etc but it's enough to elaborate the point) The Fd= how much drag the object generates. (this is how much resistance the air pushes back. This has nothing to do with "aero stability", downforce, etc. and neither will Cd tell you anything about that either. This is the "force" the engine must overcome to accelerate another mph. Top speed is where engine power output is in equalibrium with this Fd number.) So if you had a car with a .37 drag coefficient and a frontal surface area of 12feet. That would be just as good as a car with a .22 drag coefficent and 20 frontal square feet. The second car will be "bigger" but not any faster aerodynamically than the first one. F1 cars have huge Cd's .45+ but have very small frontal areas. Thus smaller drag amounts. If you had a 911turbo with a .32Cd.. and then had a special edition that had a .26Cd. Assuming they're the same shape then it would be an improvement. If you're comparing a 911 turbo to a GTR and saying one is better than the other like some magazines do. Then you'd be proving that you don't understand what the number really means.
