KA24E headers glowing bright red

Well i just got my ka in and drove it today, drove fine at first then it just lost power... Put it in first gear and pressed gas pedal to the floor and it luanched extremely slow... Shifted to second gear abd wouldnt get passed 1900rpms... So i keep going like this and my leg start to heat up, then smoke comes out from the engine bay... I pop it open and my headers r glowing extemely bright red... Check oil and radiator fluid... Oil is okay, rad. fluid needed more... So there i go try to go again and once again i step on the gas and it starts off ever so slowly... Second gear stays at 1900rpms and wont go past that... Once again leg heats up and its my headers again... So what could b the problem? Any help would b appreciated...

lean as f#ck. also warped head/header flange letting oxygen in, making the exhaust waaaaay hotter than it should most likely warping anything aluminum (head), burned a valve, who knows... ouch

and ya check timing. could be waaaaaay too advanced

my money is on that you're running lean as f#ck too. i would check timing for the 5th time, and fuel pressure, pull the plugs, etc. what did your water temp gauge say when this was going down, lol? glwf.

your cat converter is clogged. check ignition system. ignition misfire leads to raw fuel burning in the cat, causing the cat to melt and clog. replace the cat with a test pipe and diagnose the cause of the raw fuel in the exhaust system. do not put a good cat back in till you fix the problem. good luck.

For future reference, especially after major work it's never a good idea to down shift and put the pedal to the metal when something like that happens. If the car is mis-timed or running lean that's a good way to have some major damage...

Don't assume anything, just because a part worked in a previous engine, doesn't mean it's wired up properly here...

Check your wiring ... if for no other reason then to be able to say "i did check my mafs wiring, and it was working within normal parameters" << insert Lt. Data Voice

like gfo12ce said you definately do not want to keep trying to get a car to speed up when its running like that. I hope you didnt warp anything doing that twice.

I have no idea what you just said...?

Perform a compression test.

In case you don't know what that is:

Its most Likely your mass airflow sensor if it’s not that you’re timing is off I know from experience that if you have a bad or dirty mass airflow sensor your car goes in to limp mode and will not let you rev past past 2000 RPMs
