I got these in the mail today! They'll allow me to adjust the tachometer and speedometer due to the difference now that I'll be running with 8 cylinders.

you might be mad to know that the Z32 transmission reads perfectly fine with the S13 gauge cluster.

of course, if your rolling with a different differential, that might make a difference. but only a mph or two

Even if the speedo is on, the tach will still read wrong, right?

Quick question, do you have to cut the wheel wells to fit a VH?

Nope, it fits (barely!) between the wheel wells. It's a tight fit though, which makes headers a bitch.

Yeah they're monstrous.

I haven't really decided on a hood yet. I think for a while, I'll just run hood-less, and then maybe I'll cut a hole out around the manifold.... I might just use hood spacers because I kind of don't want to cut up my hood, it is carbon fiber after all.

Finally got my intake gaskets in the mail, so I installed the intake manifold...

So tonight I decided to do this

I have new valve cover hardware on the way:

As well as my catch can and fittings (for the valve cover vents). My wiring harness is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow too! So excited.

This swap is awesome. I think its a little too tall and wide to swap it in anything i'd try. Is the 4.1 the same dimensions?

Thanks!

I had my wiring done by a guy I actually found on Nico.

Here you go! He's been excellent through the entire process and the wiring will be here tomorrow.

Yeah definitely!

Update: Wiring arrived today, but I wasn't home to sign for it because I was watching a drift event, so they brought it back to the post office. Won't be able to pick it up until Monday after school.

Thanks!

Well tonight I finally got some more stuff in the mail.

Oil Catch Can:

Wiring!

Clutch line, though it's the wrong one. Specifically asked for the entire line (master cylinder to slave cylinder) rather than this small line and what do I get?

Pretty torqued about that. Needed the entire line because I'm redoing it all. Had to cut the hardline to remove the SR tranny.

I'll take a closer look at the wiring Wednesday when I don't have work after school. Hopefully I'll drop the engine in this week.

Yes, the big bolts for the tranny adapter are 14mm x 1.5 x 25

So this happened last night....

I actually managed to get it in with the shifter installed and sway bar still in, but I now realize I'm going to have to remove the sway bar to get it to sit right, the engine is too far back as it sits now. One thing I've noticed, and I don't know if that will change when it's moved forward, there's about 2" to go until I can bolt the tranny mount bracket in, it's sitting too low. I think that will be fixed tonight, though. We'll see!

Also, I got my wiring opened and laid out, it all looks great and it'll be hooked up Saturday. I'm so excited to have it in though!

OK, so tonight I ran into my first real problems. The transmission doesn't fit right in the tunnel. The square plastic cover on the top is hitting the underside of the transmission tunnel. The shifter bracket is up into the shifter hole in the transmission tunnel and yet it's not high enough for the tranny mount to bolt up. The mount is about 1/2" below the mount holes on the car and at this point I'm literally pushing the tunnel up into the cabin.

Also, my Xcessive tranny mount doesn't line up right. The two bolts for the passenger side go right in, but the drivers side holes are too far forward to be able to bolt up. The holes in the mount are too far to the rear, and I can't line it all up. Not sure what I'm going to have to do. Maybe it'll be fixed when I figure out how to get it high enough.

For the xcessive kit....make sure you have the mounts on correct. I think the instructions say they should angle/point backwards. Also I had to shim passenger side mount 1/4" from the block and 1/4" from the subframe to get the motor level. The xcessive kit also angles the motor for clearance as well. I ran MW headers and had to trim the subframe to clear the runners. The right way to put it in once is to drop it in while leaving it suspended, unbolt/loosen the subframe and let it hang. Put the headers on from the top. Drop the motor in. Bolt up tranny first loosely, the bolt the subframe back in. Then adjust the block.

The subframe/rack out of the way makes it hella easier. I also made mt radiator support removable which really makes it easy, one person job.

Daaaamn you're making progress. Hope you're enjoying that seat I sold you haha.

I was thinking about that header issue, I think if you have big enough spacers and you cut the inside of the hood you could get it to fit. I won't ever be driving hoodless again, my latch broke and I had to drive with the hood off ONE time and I got pulled over. Some cops here are strict as hell about that, so be careful.

I am enjoying it a lot actually!

Really? You got pulled over for no hood? My dad's a cop and said he doesn't even think that's illegal.

I got the engine and tranny in, now onto my next problem. Driveshaft won't go in. I get it in about a half inch and then it just stops. I have no idea why, the splines are all straight. Someone on v8nissans.com says the keyway in the driveshaft splines matches up with one in the transmission output shaft but I haven't seen anything like that. I've looked and it just looks like normal splines all the way in. I spent 30 minutes rotating and trying every way of getting it in, same thing all the way.

In other news, I have started hooking up my wiring. I was sick of the ECU getting in the way down by my feet so I decided to relocate it.

Ta da! I don't have a radio anyway, so it's no big deal. I'm going to end up putting a switch panel on the center of the dash and that's it.

I'm trying to figure out how to wire up the battery since it's in the trunk. Battery positive to starter, that's all, right?
