Vh45 swap

Is it a good idea to do a vh45 swap on a 240 s13? Has anyobe done the swap before and is it a reliable swap?

reliable, its only as reliable as you make it when you swap it in... if you do a nice re-seal of all gaskets, and put new spark plugs, fuel injectors, coil packs, belts, water pump etc etc, it will be super reliable.

is it smart to do? after doing a VH swap myself. id say that for the PRICE of doing the swap you wont make as much power as you could if you went with a host of different engines. a iron block chevy V8 is much smaller, and much easier to get parts for, and if done smart, can be cheaper than a VH swap.

after spending close to around 6k for my VH swap, I was very disappointed with the 270whp that it made..

^^^Agreed. VH45 makes a phenomenal sound and you get kudos for keeping it all Nissan, but that's about it. As far as V8 swaps go, there is a reason why LSx is the king. It's got more displacement than the VH45, but is still smaller/weighs less and makes more power.

VH45 is a novelty. There are youtube videos of VH45 swaps that will make your pants tight. But at the end of the day, there are better bang for your buck swaps out there.

It may suck to hear that, but I felt the same way when I was looking into VQ35 swaps. Fuq dat shit...

That would be a terrible idea.

14-16 mpg is not daily driveable. unless your pockets are full of cash you are just dying to spend at the pump. and good luck running AC, as there is NO room to fit a condenser, compressor, accumulator, and AC lines. (without extensive modification that is)

Also just sayin, if you are looking for a nice setup to daily. Just turbo the ka an run low boost, pick up a t28 from a sr20 an run like 8-10psi. It will still be reliable, have enough hp to make the car pretty fun to drive, and still get good gas mileage.

I did a vh45 swap last year on my car. It can be expensive, but it can also be cheaper if you can fabricate everything yourself. As for being reliable, I haven't had any issues (yet) but that all varies on if you maintain your car. My advise, if you want a complete plug n play motor swap, this isn't for you. But if you don't mind fabbing a couple parts, figuring out some wiring, ect, you'll have a blast with this motor.

If you wan't a peek at what I did, here's my build thread. http://www.v8nissans.com/forums/show...ust-spit-on-it
