How long do you let your car warm up before you take off, in the morning?

I usually wait until the needle reaches the first line.

Sometimes no but when I do (like now when it's only 20 degrees) I usually only wait 2 minutes. &nbsp;I've heard that you really only have to wait a minute if you are using the correct weight oil. The temp on the block is less important than if the oil has had a chance to circulate. &nbsp;I don't know if thats true but it sounds resonable.

i kinda rev up to about 1500 rpm and hold it there, i feel it warms up faster, for about a minute and a half by that time it reaches the first line/dot in mine. i dont know if this is bad but that is what i do.

Here in LA, it usually doesn't get below 40 or so in the winter (or at least not in the area that I live), so I usually only let it "warm up" for less than a minute, I guess I'm just trying to get the oil flowing more than the block (and peripherals) heated up, and then I'm off.

Warm up for 30-60 seconds then drive it slowly for a few minutes.

You shouldn't let your car idle for too long.

I just sit for about a minute letting it warm up. Its to cold out now for me to sit in the car longer then that and not be moving, if I just let it idle in place it never warms up <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

nowhere to be, till it reaches the 1st line.
got to go, 1-2 minute
already 15 minutes late, no time at all.
But I always drive under 2500rpm until it's up to normal operating temp, no matter how late I am.

Usuallly I let it warm up until I know its ready to go. I can tell when my car is warmed up by listening to the engine and exhaust flow. Usually it starts out loud and the tach is about 1k rpm. But when its warm and ready to go, the exhaust flow is smooth, engine is quieter and the RPM drops to its normal level.

I have to take care of my old (high mileage) engine.

I normally let it warm up for about 2-3 minutes and then take it easy for the first few miles or so.
