Hey guys,

I bought what was supposed to be a GT2871 about a year ago. I guess for whatever reason, I never checked the numbers on it and just tossed it in. Stupid me, I know...

I was curious exactly which trim it was the other day and went to look at the part number. Sure enough, it's a GT2560, definitely not a GT2871.

My old turbo was a dual ball bearing s15 turbo, while the new one is the journal bearing style s14 turbo. Because the new one was journal it spooled slower and thus felt like a GT2871 to me for a whole year of driving it...

My question is now that it's a year later, is there anything I can do? Or am I screwed and stuck with a turbo worth half what I paid?

Theres nothing you can do. Paypal buyer protection extends to 45 days, past that its on you. Pretty stupid for not checking it before you drove on it.

I didn't come here to have you guys tell me it was stupid; I realize that already. I simply forgot to check the number, it was a mistake.

However, sometimes you guys have good ideas and do more than just tell people they're stupid so I thought I'd ask.

If I'm stuck with it, I'm stuck with it and that's fine. It was my fault for not checking and I take responsibility for that. But if there's anything that might just give me a chance to get my money back, I'd like to hear about it.

Yea you're sort of at a loss there, even moreso that you've used it for over a year.

I don't think I'm as screwed as you guys make it out to be. I mean, this guy knows he scammed me so perhaps under the threat of exposing him he would think about working with me. He had a good post count and reputation so I doubt he wants that tainted. Or perhaps it was an honest mistake and if I show him that he can work with me to make it better.

My point is, there are still options in talking with him... I came here for advice in how to go about doing that.

I also would not expect a full refund considering I got a year of use out of it. Perhaps he could buy it back from me for $600 or so. (I paid $750)

Yeah, that's really my only option left. I'm hoping it was a mistake and the guy wants to make it right. I just thought I'd check here first before messaging him and see if anyone had any ideas on word choice to help him see my way.

What's happening is that I forgot to do something, check the part numbers, and that cost me some money.
I'm sure all of you have made a stupid mistake so please get off your high horses.

You could have started by messaging him first and see where it goes than creating a thread and thinking about messaging him. So go and message him and see what happens, keep in mind of Pingg's post.

In the end, it's your fault for not checking the part, especially for a turbo.

That may have worked within a month or so of buying it but now I think the bank will probably just tell me to piss off.

My best/only option at this point seems to be talking to the guy I bought it off of.

You're stuck with it man. Its been a year so how does he know you didn't blow the turbo or just wanna scam him. You act like you can not check what you ordered, then just use the parts, realize you screwed up & want a refund. Deal with it you made a poor choice, there ain't no changing it a year down the road.

Either he knows this because he intentionally scammed me or he made a mistake and sold me the wrong turbo (Meaning he'd still have the GT2871). It's pretty easy for him to know he sold a GT2560 instead of the GT2871 it was said to be...

You got a case bro!!! First up, blow up the turbo..... Then, go to the court and file a case for wrongful death claim. State that the turbo you bought was malnourished and susceptible to death due to prior family history that was unreported at the time of sale. Once you get the ball rolling in the court system.... Take a deep breath, look at your turbo, and the. Tell yourself .... "Fuck me."
