S13 Tie Rod Upgrade

So quick down and dirty:

I have stock knuckles

Lowered on Stance SS+ Coilovers

Enjuku Racing front tension rods, rear upper control arms, rear toe rods, rear traction rods

I ordered lower control arms with moog ball joints from advance auto

the search bar came up with confusing set ups

I HAVE STOCK KNUCKLES. Looking to upgrade my tie rods. Should I go

Ikeya Formula Inner - S14 Moog outer tie rod end

Tein Inner - SPL V5 outer tie rod end

PBM Inner - S14 Moog outer tie rod end

Moog Inner - S14 Moog outer tie rod end

I am confused on what fits a S13 with stock knuckles. I understand the S14 outer tie rod ends will always fit the stock s13 knuckles. What I have read is the inner tie rods I can use depends on my knuckles. Since i am stock which ones will fit with S14 moog tie rod ends. Should I get the SPL v5 instead of the moog?

Get inners that correspond with your outers. s13 inners to s13 outers. s14 inners to s14 outers. In your situation I would just get s14 inners.

Edit: Most all aftermarket outers are going to use an s14 inner because they are thicker.

Pbm inner and moog outter is a good setup. You'll have to chop down the Pbm ones tho. So keep that in mind. If you go in Pbm website they give you measurements for all different cars that'll work for what you want.

So if I get moog/pbm/spl/ikeya formula S14 inner and moog s14 outers it will fit fine with stock knuckles on a S13?

Im on their site now, the only inner tie rods I see are S14 spherical. When I add it to my cart they have the option of cutting the inner tie rod to OEM length. If I cut them and use Moog S14 outer tie rod ends I should be good right? That's what I am getting confused about. I will probably just call and ask.

That's what I was thinkinging. But for the price if I can get beefier parts for the same price why not? That's my whole basis for my question.

What tie rod combinations can I use with stock knuckles?

I stick with s13 autozone inners/outers. Lifetime warranty, bend one and get a free replacement etc.

Can I go S14 Moog inner and outer? They fit the steering rack and my S13 stock knuckles while being thicker in diameter right?

Yeah, I goofed and forgot to order s14 ones when I got mine lol. Oh well. You can also do Z33 inners and outers. The inner is shorter, but the outer is longer. It's all in the steering angle thread really.

Bump for pbm S14 Inner and moog outer. Been running that setup for 3 years now. Martin at pbm did the alignment himself!

This is from the Steering Angle thread:
89-94 240sx.. 11.10" (m12x1.25)
95-98 240sx.. 11.37"
94-99 maxima 11.42"
96-99 i30...... 11.42"
97-01 Q45..... 12.00" (same with 01-06)
00-04 i30...... 12.91"
99-03 maxima 12.91"
03-08 maxima 13.30" (same with 04-06)
PSM Spherical....12.5"

I'd be concerned about trying to use PBM inners with stock LCAs and knuckles. There might not be enough thread after you cut the extra length off.

One thing to consider is bump steer correction from adjustable outer tie rods like the SPLs. It made quite a difference on my car and it wasn't even that low. However, I did notice a vague "on-center" feel after installing outers with such long shanks.

The Ikeya Formula offer a lot of adjustment so if you ever use longer LCAs or modded knuckles you wouldn't need new inners. Downside is that they are expensive and if you are drifting, you are eventually going to bend or break one. Then you'll have to buy another set just to replace one. I've bent 2 over the last few years. That's why I just stick to cheap ones from the parts store.

S14 Moog/Tein Inners with Moog/Tein or SPL Outers would be a great choice but the possibilities are endless. GKTech even has a cool Outer Tie Rod set.
