So, my SR20DET swapped S13 was running fine about a month ago when I finally found a garage to store it but decided to crap out on me a few weeks later. I tried starting the car and it would just crank and crank while also having what sounds like a metal squeeking/screeching noise. After messing with it for a few days it finally started up last night. I didn't doing anything between the last time it wouldn't start and last night so I don't know what changed. Well when it was finally running it would start, stumble a little and then fall on it's face. I did this a few times and found that giving it gas would keep it going until I finally was able to start it and have it stay running.

My concern now is that when I rev the car it has the same screeching sound as it did when I was failing to start but does it on initial startup and on revs. Also, there was whitish gray smoke coming out of the exhaust. I didn't think to rev from the throttlebody so I'm not sure where in the motor the screeching is coming from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having a similar problem, although when I give mine any throttle it goes into what I feel is a limp mode and just bounces the RPM's. No throttle response, no power and won't idle and falls on it's face and dies. I'm stumped.

Does is sound like a belt is loose when is screeches? Also, what does the smoke smell like?

It fouls plugs and smells like fouled plugs. I guess I don't really know how to explain the screech. Is it when it's starting or about to die?
