paint rusts?

ok so i decided not to paint my car over this

theres a crack from the passenger headlight to about the middle of the center grill on the hood. and the small one on the bumper. I'm wondering if it will rust if i dont paint it( the hood), and what i can do so it wont since i want to buy some suspension instead of painting it and i wont be able to paint the car for along time since i lost my job a while ago and im a student.:ghey:

You do realize that rust is the oxidation of iron or iron based alloys, right? Last I checked, your bumper is neither.

if you dont paint it, and its through to the metal, it will rust.
paint will prevent it from rusting.

If your metal is showing just shoot some spray paint on it so it wont rust, and paint it later when you have the funds and time.

Maybe put some clear coat?
Might work or just try to color match with spray paint

as of right now, I cant even see the crack. If you want it to look perfect again, you'll have to repaint it. At the very least, sand and fade the rest onto the existing paint.

if its not peeling, you could probably get touchup paint and fill it with that.
If it was me, i'd just put touchup paint on it and then throw a sticker on it

the picture of the hood, 2nd pic is pretty much the crack, its that whole area, one line going across the headlight till the middle of the grill. i'll buy some touch up paint and clear. i'll try both maybe and see what i can do. i was going to paint it, but replacing stock shocks is my priority.

you don't want to paint over the rust, you remove the rust to your best ability than paint over that.

you must sand off any rust that has formed, seal it with something like por-15 and then paint over it

if you leave rust there it will continue to rust and spread under the paint, eventually bubbling up
