cell phone ballaz~~~ i need your help
currently have a black nokia 6230 with cingular. i can't hear much of anything from the speaker, it horrible reception in my house, and randomly turns off.
I want something thin like 1/2" or less, durable, with uber reception. Black, bluetooth, and a good camera would be preferable as well. Under $250 would be good too. What should i look at? |

You should look at a phone with all the features you seek and a camera separate...
I got the Nokia 6030 on friday, I was not in need of Bluetooth or camera seeing as how I am not trendy or cool enough to need Bluetooth and I already own a camera. Cash outlay with a phone for the sake of having a phone and a camera for the sake of having a camera should keep you well under $250.00. I like this phone better than the POS it replaced, the speaker is LOUD, as is the ringer... I heard it ringing form my kitchen this morning, through 2 closed doors and around the corner this morning, the earpiece volume is so loud I could use IT like a speaker earlier today, and I have yet to drop a call in 3 days now, even in th 3 places where I normally EXPECT to drop them.

I got a SLVR and I love it. Camera isn't as good as a lot of other camera phones but I don't really use it. The buttons took some getting use to cuz they seem kinda small, but the phone is very sturdy and tiny.

You guys have it all wrong, its not about the phone, its about what service you're using. The phone just provides the features, the service determines the quality of the call.
<<< works for t-mobile corporate. as far as phones go.... Nokia n90.

IMO reception is based on both the phone and service.
since you have Cingular, just get an unlocked phone from ebay and stick your sim card in. SLVR is about $250 PEBL is about $275 my preference is nokia, Nokia 6260 is about $260 and if i ever get $600 spare change, Nokia N90

I'm on RAZR #2 after #1 just quit working and #2 is all sorts of f***ed up as in it tosses interfearence on all unshielded speakes in the room. including the mic in the phone. so it works great with the bluetooth headset, but without it really blows. don't go RAZR! and yes i have babied the shit out of both phones.

I previously had sprint for 3 years and I had an 8100 and an 8200. I switched to cingular because they had coverage to where i moved to. I have nothing bad to say about the Sanyo phone and I probably would have bought one if Cingular had one.
All that being said, I have spent a lot of time in Japan where they have awesome cell phones. The SLVR is the only phone that comes close overall "wow" factor those phones had for me. |

In response to Tenchuu's statement as far as the RAZR interfering with peoples monitors thats not just the Motorola's that do that, most of cell phones do that. Its not the cell phones problem its the computer makers problem. My Mac does not get affected at all by my Motorola but when I am at my friends work his cheap PC starts wigging audibly the minute my phone or any other phone gets around it. It is a shielding problem on the PC makers part.Computer monitors not shielded for RF frequency will do that. You pay less for your computer its going to be of lesser quality i.e. not shielded and cheaper parts. You by a higher priced PC Mac or Wintel and it will not have that problem because the companies build shielding into the monitors and computer.

I agree with anthony 240, get something unlocked off of ebay or craigslist and stick your sim in it. If the reception is still poor, look into switching cell phone providers. Most providers offer a 14 day trial period, take advantage of that and make sure you get reception in the places that you need it. In cali the trial period is 30 days though. woot woot cali.
