Newly Built Ka24de: Mystery Smoke
Engine: 1995 Ka24de
Ive just done a complete engine rebuild for my ka24de, and just started it today for the first time. Within the first 5 minutes of starting the engine i noticed white smoke rising from the exhaust side! i have no hood on so i could clearly see the large amount of white smoke rising from drivers side. I quickly went to see if something was burning but when i got to the bay i could not tell where the smoke was coming from. I panicked and shut it down in fear of causing permanent damage to bearings if it is coolant mixing with oil / or overheat Bad Headgasket? - I used a brand new felpro gasket kit when building engine Intake Manifold Gasket - ^^^ See above Valve seals? - I just got a complete valve job from the machine shop / along with mill / and adjustments to make sure all buckets were correct. It was around 1am so i called it quits and tomorrow im going to check the oil to see if coolant is mixing with oil. if theres anything else that could be causing this problem please let me know? Ive been working on this project for two years and just want to drive this car, i really dont want to take it apart again because of oil mixing with water and causing bearing failure. |

As stated above it is more than likely oil residue on the motor/header burning off from the re-install. I personally would check for leaks, give it a thorough look over and restart. Make sure to watch the gauges and keep an eye out for anything else that doesn't look right.
