2JZ Single turbo S13.4 kouki hatch build

Hi all, this is my 1st post here. Im a HD mechanic working in seismic acquisition as a vibroeseis technician (fix 20-80,000 pound vibrators believe it or not). I may disappear from time to time for work.

Bought this 1992 180sx hatch, without an engine, trans, and in many parts on July 20th.

Bought a 2JZ-GE and 2.0mm Greddy head gasket

Engine sitting next to car. Transmission arrives tomorrow.
Need R154 Bellhousing for 2JZ and clutch kit next.

T4 Flanged stainless manifold

Engine rebuilding

Mess on my work tables.

Turbo (67mm 0.84 a/r from driftmotion) and other parts

Bought a 5 lug conversion, ordered polyurethane bushing kit for the whole car and will be painting all the suspension arms

Engine re-assembled on stand, waiting for mounts.

Car parts on my living room table

Finally got my new set of mounts... 1st set i ordered scared me they looked too flimsy

Just after i dropped the engine into the car. Test fitting mounts etc

Bought S14 kouki front end, going +50mm over in the rears. Still unsure what colour im painting the whole car

Gold valve covers and fuel rail came out sweet

Painted most of the engine and its attached parts

Removed lower intake manifold, cleaned and painted

Re-building my R154. New seals, check clearances, cleaned, marlin crawler thrust washer upgrade

New air compressor - Going to buy a paint gun and spray the engine bay once im done fitting the engine.

Mishimoto radiator and cooling fans

I took the fans off the shroud, won't fit between the radiator and the engine the 2JZ is too long. I'm going to mount them as pushers in front of the radiator.

Here is the process of mounting the radiator and cooling fans.
There's a shot where i put the old man to work cutting flat bar =)

Tranny back together finally

Had to remove the engine and bolt the tranny up outside because it wouldnt fit any other way... No room to put the bolts much less turn a wrench!

Was this ever a tight fit... Maybe a half inch clearance to the transmission tunnel and 1 inch from head to firewall!!

This damn intake plenum took 30 days to get to me. Seller had shipped it to the wrong address initially...

GOT STAMPS?! 38 stamps holy shit?

Intake plenum mounted... 80mm throttle body on it's way now too. Once i get the tb and front end mounted i can do my intercooler and piping.

Next update will be some body work on the front end. Fitting S14 kouki onto S13. Going to try to keep the original body lines of the S13 and taper it subtly towards the S14 aggressive front.

Made some stainless steel lines. i'm considering moving the fuel pressure regualtor to the opposite side to clean up the engine bay.

Made a mounting plate for my new coilpacks. Im going to be ditching the dizzy and running the coipacks on an undecided standalone EMS

I ordered two sets, first were ebay and i think id be afraid to stand on them let alone put that into my car and drop a couple hundred ponies to the ground at 5000 rpm. I broken an engine mount once, wasn't pretty. Let's just leave it at "i had to change my hood".

So i ordered GetNuts from driftmotion. Haven't bolted the tranny on yet so i can't be sure how they fit yet.

As for wiring i printed the diagrams for the engine harness it's quite simple really. I think only 7 wires need power or ground, some switched ignition, etc... I'm going to run the battery in the trunk, weld in all the unused holes under the hood, smooth it out, and tuck the entire harness back into the car if i can.

Yes the bottom end is completeley stock. The head is too actually, minus the GReddy 2.0mm HG.

I haven't read enough about it to come to a decision, but considering it because my turbo's inlet interferes with the coil's wire on the dizzy cap.

Yes i had no choice, i couldnt close my hood with the stock IM unless i cut my engine mounts shorter or modified my cross member. I ordered one from xspower its in the mail now. Got a heat shielding lower intake gasket too. Unsure what tb ill use, ill see how big the flange is on the new plenum

Xs powers FFIM has good reviews with us over on CL. Some slight modification might need to be done but I'm pretty sure you know that.

But 550 injectors from TT supra and Safc you'll be in like flin.

Good luck man

I ordered 800cc injectors to leave some room on the duty cycle. I won't stop boosting until i make 500 to the wheels. Going with a standalone also, unsure what system because that's a little far ahead for the moment.

On a side note 550 cc injectors are side feed they wouldnt fit the GE fuel rail is top feed =]

What is "CL"?

Yeah sure i've got tons... Here's a few. I threw in a pics of my old 91 GTR also. That car was stolen from me in 2008.

Some of the pics have the original rims that came with the car, that was when i lived back east.
Rims are Work Equip 17x8 front and 17x9 rear +30,

Here's the GTR it was mostly stock except the suspension i had most of the nismo upgrades, like aluminium control arms, sway bars, coilovers, etc...

Rims are Sparco Crimson NS-II (discontinued) 17x9 all around dont remember offset
