Jap market cars don't have those vins in the bottom of the windscreen, just the vin on the top of the firewall. If you left that panel there and just swapped the lower piece shouldn't be an issue?

And mods haven't closed this thread. . . ??????????
They'll delete threads for street racing/ street drifting, but not for someone suggesting that they might swap vins on a car. . . which is ILLEGAL! |

Not a bright idea. You will end up with 3 accounts of Felony. Dont fuck up your life over some piece of shit RHD car that you probably wont even be able to shift properly.

Go for it! Then I hope someone in your area sees you in your illegal car, decides to be a dick and report you/your car. It'll be karma doing her thing. You land some fed charges and your expensive car gets crushed! Life lesson learned ....

the Z32 jdm and usdm are the same car safety wise why would there be any difference in safety features? it's not like the japanese Z32 is any safer then the usdm model.. other then steering location but that does not hinder safety. |

I remembered reading the vehicle import rules a while back, but I don't remember being that easy just because there's a USDM version available. Something about front/side/rear safety.

DING DING DING WINNNAAAR! OV Junior strikes agaain. USDM safety prerequisites are more stringent than the JDM ones. You need to change alot of shit on JDM Z32 to make it pass the USDM safety standards. Different metal bumpers, stronger doors, then you have to change the windshield for the big items for the conversion.

You guys got it tough when it comes to imports though. as much as I hate our system, I'd hate to have to deal with yours. |

Surprisingly, I am kinda glad I don't have to deal with the importation processes that exist in Australia. Speaking as a noob and only referencing what I saw in the ever-classic MCM vids, at least here in canada there are a lot of things we can 'get away with' compared to down there. No visible air filters, no BOVs..? I just wanna know if thats actually legit!

Import it
Strip it completely down and swap everything to your USDM s14 . As long as you don't tamper with the vin on the firewall and the door will you'll be OK. Legally your car needs 2 readilly accessible vins. Since your gonna use rhd dash your going to lose that vin. Do not try to rivet the vin on the JDM dash that will be a felony. Federal felony. I have one just like it. Insured and been pulled over by curious cops .they can never find anything wrong. Been like that for more than 5 years |

Visible air filters are fine, as are BOV's(stock or plumbed back) In NSW where MCM is shot pod filters have to be enclosed but here in Vic they only have to be securely mounted. You're only allowed one intake mod though so Pod filter or FMIC but not both :/
