Hopefully the paperwork is almost done, so I should be able to pick it up soon. In the meantime,
I have managed to track down an intact liftback taillight. It needs to be cleaned up and have the digital camo duct tape removed from the edges. I then happened across an '85 SR5 coupe in the junkyard, and was able to grab the fuel tank sending unit, and front signal lenses. Hopefully after I get the fuel line on the GTS tank fixed, I'll have all the parts needed to get the car on the road minus wheels and tires. |

so rad that you saved that thing. every time i go to pick n pull i'm always tempted to salvage the classics that i see, but i have yet to come across one in as good condition/complete as that 86 can't wait to see it back on the road!

How much was it? You're lucky you got it quick. A GTS hatch was dumped in my junkyard and within a week it was COMPLETELY stripped.

The week I sold my SR5, I went to the junkyard and saw a 2-tone silver and black GTS coupe get put in the yard, and by the time I passed it again on my way out (20 minutes later) it had been completely stripped. If my GTS had been put in on a weekend, I'd never have been able to save it.

No doubt about that, I'm talking about.complete chassis though lol This one had a hicomp in it. It had a bride bucket, LSD rear end, complete interior, all that steez. I got to see it the day it left the lot it was a bare shell.

Quick update. The yard crushed the 86 by mistake.
However, I am so set on AE86 ownership now that I ended up trading my daily driver Miata straight up for this: |
