This happens intermittenly (BTW, the search not working kinda sux =( )
Anyways...
SOMETIMES, my car (1991 240sx, 90' motor) will stop reving at 5000RPMS' instead of the 6700 normal rev limit. and it acts the same way, it just bounces off 5000...
which is really annoying especially if i am in a race and it jsut decides to do it.

Any ideas?

Also, one other intermitten problem.. somtimes the car runs REALLY rich, we are talking black smoke, and 6 mpg... and its the same issue, intermitten...
no idea whats up.

any ideas would be nice.
I bought an o2 sensor, but i havent put it in yet, figure that might be the problem, but if it isnt, i wana take it back, so i thought i would check here first.

On the rev limiter:
This happens when either the connection to the speedo cluster is loose or the speedo cluster itself is shot; I'm sure there are other reasons but this was my problem when my cluster went south.

Okay dude, I know exactly what you are talking about.  I had the same problem except i was all the time.  I could only rev to 5K exactly and when I would punch the gas thick black smoke would come out of the exhaust!

When to the local junk yard and picked up a MAF sensor, installed it, reset the computer, drove very easy (never exciding 4Krpms) for about ten minutes and then it was fixed.  The O2 sensor might help anyways and also a fuel filter, and complete tune up!  I also used blaster fuel injector cleaner and some Z Max fuel system cleaner and it cleaned up the engine nicely and increased fuel economy as well!

good luck,
-zac
