So no one figured out that "wealth" is productive capacity?
Wealth isn't the quantity of a medium of exchange. If that was the case why isn't Zimbabwe the wealthiest country in the world? They have stacks of this: But zero of this: ^That is wealth. |

Hello people, now define 'freedom' please.
Three months from now I will post back here to tell you that you are all wrong and let you know my correct personal opinion on what I believe freedom to be. |

Interesting you put this up. By tying wealth to productive capacity, then you essentially can define wealthy countries by ones having good work ethic and working ability and the poor ones by having no work ethic.
Watching discovery channel last night in "most dangers journeys"... There was a "bus service" were like 200 people hang off a 1 ton truck and go from one end of some african country to the other. In the middle of this trek, a giant mud hole is there from some rain storm and everyone has to get off while 5 people running the service try and use rocks, sticks and ropes to get this truck through the mud hole. Everyone else goes and sits under a tree. As the camera man pan's over and interviews some of the people, they say "When you go back to USA, tell washington to come over and build us some roads". That struck me as quite peculiar as there are 200+ people sitting under a tree, their trip derailed, and their solution is the USA needs to fix this?? Not a single one of them picked up a shovel the whole time. They didn't look and say, geez if we band together this road will be awesome in like 1 or two days of labor. They sat, and sat and sat. Their best idea was for someone else to fix it. Never doing any work themselves. So if this is the case then maybe these african countries have a lack of "wealth". And with that, then, it's a social lack and distaste for wealth and no amount of money and "saving the children" will fix it. They actually want to starve and kill each other endlessly.

Also, Maslow's definition of self-actualization is unrealistic. To not only realize, but to REACH one's full potential? I feel like self-actualization should be realizing that you can not reach your full potential, to know that there is no cap, to become a life-long learner, that one must always better themselves so that they can also better help others. To have wealth is one thing, to know the joys of being able to share it with others is completely different. I also think you must have an awesome datsun, some cool motorcycles, and a doggy.. preferably a corgi or jindo.. |

Random but...
Well I'll just define the difference between wealthy people and rich as I see it.
Rich people have a lot of money. They might not have to work, but they usually get rich within their lifetime - lBill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc. Wealthy people come from money, and they get used to having anything they want. They only work to make a difference or to make a name for the family or for themselves, because money has no value to them. Think - race car drivers like Senna, Schumacher, Prost, most come from wealthy families, but they want to be the best at something. Wealthy people are not satisfied by money. They seek quality in life, not quantity. That's just my ....... |
