S15 Spec R VVL kicked in YO

Hi all, been a member of the forum for a little while now but have barely been active on the forum. As I've been building up a SR20VET for my S15 as you'll see below you in the information/pictures, I thought it was about time I start my own build topic seeing as I haven't yet!

Hope you enjoy

Standard SR20DET VS fully worked SR20VE [spec list below]

SR20VE inlet ports

SR20DET inlet ports [yes I realise they're standard]

"Baby" turbo [GTX3076R]

Skyline RB25DET gearbox with adaptor plate etc

Dummy fitting

Engine bay getting ready for paint:

Painted:

VVl kit on:

As the engine currently sitted before being mounted:

Mounted:

-----SPECS----

Head:

P11 Cylinder head
Exhaust cams 268 11.8 lift
Inlet cams 272 and 305 11.2 and 12.4 lift
2mm over size valves
larger valve seats with 3 angle grind
New exhaust valve guides
New high performance valve springs
Re-shaped combustion chamber
Race port and polish
Vernier cam wheels (dialed in for max power)

Block/other:

-Link G4 wire in ECU
-Bosch 044 fuel pumps [x2]
-ID2000cc top feed fuel injectors [x4]
-Custom polished intercooler piping
-Custom polished intake plenuim with 70mm throttle body
-Greddy fuel rail modified to mount VE head
-Tial external wastegate
-Top mount extractors
-Braided oil and water lines to turbo and back
-Full engine balance
-CP forged pistons in 86.5mm
-ACL race main and big end bearings
-Acid dipped block
-New genuine Nissan OEM jet oil squirters

Currently that's how the car is sitting at the moment from Wednesday just passed. Few little things remaining now until it gets fired up for the first time such as wiring, front mount piping etc.

Looking forward to hearing this thing start up for the first time

Have the trans bolted up? You could see some issues when you do with that P12 CAS. I had to remove mine in my S14 and go with the Mazworx pickup because I didn't have room between the CAS and bulkhead.

Ooooh...looks like you forgot to notch the transmission tunnel. You're probably gonna have to beat the tunnel out to make space for the RB25 transmission.

They've already smashed the tunnel out a little bit according to them to allow the gearbox to fit before it had been painted. As for the CAS, I'm not sure on the whole thing but they've told me they're not running it. I believe they're putting a hall effect system on it or something but whatever they do I've told it won't have a CAS on it...

It's the standard S15 blue, just been painted again as pictures show. It's not as dark in person as you see in the pictures. It's a little bit brighter when you actually see it as the pictures are taken at night time

On a rough guess, within a month. But probably a good two as the team are full on doing other big and small builds as well at the moment.

Thanks man .

I know at the moment downpipe/wastegate pipe currently underway, wiring doesn't have much to go [unless I didn't understand what my tuner said properly? Lol] and intake manifold is on it's way back after final fitment tweaks

Thanks man. They're definitely better motors to build from then an sr20det and the best thing going with these is that you're not adding extra weight that an RB/JZ/V8 would

What is that giant box on the right with the lines coming out of it? It seems that you would have more room if you could remove it or at least relocate it. Is it for ABS brakes or something?

As mentioned, it's the ABS unit . It's why I couldn't go with a 60mm wastegate and had to end up using a 44mm instead >_<

Smaller wastegates control exhaust gases better. 60mm would've been completely overkill for the turbo you are running.

They thought it might boost creep just a tiny bit which is why they were going to run a 60mm to start with it, but that's a might. Downpipe is going to be heat wrapped and so goes for any rubber hoses that's next to anything hot. They're also either heat wrapping the abs or putting a heat shield around it.

Head is out of a P11 Primera and the block is just the S15 sr20det block

Custom cams. I believe the relocation block is a mazworx item and then how they've bolted the solenoids on the side there is completely custom
