US Drift Nationals (Hyperfest) @ Infineon 9-11
Just found out about this too! US Drift Nationals on Saturday 9-11. Drift course will take place on Turn 7 (I think same turn as Formula D was, I wasn't there). See you all there!

They are NOT running a Formula D course... look at the schedule for 9/11, the day has a full schedule of HPDE/race groups, and they are running the full track. You guys will get the turn 7 paddock/runoff area like yesterday... which IMO isn't all that great.

At the drivers meeting near the end of the day, it was announced that the actual Turn 7 like Formula D will be used and not the paddock... and i got an email back from a guy @ US Drift saying the same thing...

Then someone better ask NASA and figure out what is going on... their schedule tells me that the full track is used, and with the tight scheduling its impossible to close off the course and run drifting.
Unless they have HPDE on a very short track...which I doubt. -alex |

So whats the deal with this event? If I am not a NASA member, I will need to cough up extra $$$ at the gate in order to run?
How much track time do people usually get at these types of event? I understand its just a little sideshow they run on a cone course, so I'm wondering if its worth the money or not. |

if u are not a NASA member u need to register to become a member, just like SCCA...
its only like $30 or so plus a free subscription to GRM.. yes the NASA US Drift events in Norcal are pretty small, but its one of the few drift events up North and IMO worth the average $50-60 each time... NASA is also working things out on bigger venues, most likely cone dodging though |

Sorry Alex, but I will prove you wrong! JK . NASA has the HPDE listed for that day as using a Short 7 Course, which frees up the turn 7 complex for drifting! Here's a (very well drawn!)pic: https://www.nasaproracing.com/norcal...spr_short7.jpg
So all is fine. US Drift will get Turn 7, and HPDE will get the rest of the track. I'm assuming that the paddock area will be for the car show maybe or vendors, I'm not sure about that.

The NASA event I went to was well organized and very fun. I hope they come back to so cal soon. Don't know if that'll happen or not though. Doesn't look like it.

Umm yea. I won the last one. Good event. The events are organized, but their online stuff is not organized at all. They are just using us drifters as a way to make extra revenue, these events do not cost them anything.

Don't we all want to make extra revenue if "we" throw Events thru out the year? Or you don't want them to throw events at all that we can just go to NCDA? -Al |

Its great that Nasa can you get out on a course for only $60 instead of going to Altamont for $100 and risk wrecking it against the walls. It sucks that tracks and private lots want so much $$. Does NCDA have any future locations besides Altamont in mind? At the last NASA event someone mentioned a possible Oakland location, sounds interesting!!

I just signed up 2 days ago. It should be still open. I didn't see any deadlines or anything like that.
Does anyone know where we can find the roster of those people that signed up? Thanks in advance.

1st- Henry Hanh
2nd- Takahiro Fujita 3rd- Jeff Andraded the course was kinda tough and had one really uneccessary abrupt U-Turn after the large first sweeper then into another large sweeper.....the tandem was actually pretty damn competitive for the top 8 people.... my friend (Geoff) in a red Corolla coupe got jipped so bad when he didnt make top 16....i still have a damn 5500 rev limiter, but i still managed to make it past first round elimination |

good job out there Jerry! I would like to say that the top 8 drivers were the cream of the crop of Norcal drifters. The VERY sharp U turn was handled extremely well by the top 4. Jeff Andrade could keep the tires spinning through the whole course! Spun out too much tho. Henry and Takahiro was a great battle! But Henry kept shutting the door on Takahiro during the tandems, his line was so freaking tight!

I had fun too. I wish i could have gotten more runs but i cant complain because of the price. I think the people w/ N/As had a harder time on the first turn because it was going up hill. They couldnt get enough speed to drift the whole turn. But some people got it.

I didn't really intend to take pics, but I got a little trigger happy at the end.
This pic stands out, http://www.ncda.net/images/events/us...l/KIF_2921.JPG find more in the gallery @ www.ncda.net Congrats Henry! |

Thanks all for the props and support. My car actually overheated and loss power during the eliminations. Especially during the Super 8 eliminations. It was a lot of fun racing to the very end with your close friends. Everyone did well. I feel bad for Geoff, he did really well during his qualifying runs. Al was so piss at the judges during that time.
Thanks Bau and Evolution Motorsports for all the help!!!

Fuck them fuckface. Geoff did a fucking great job. Asshats didn't even bother to look at his runs.
That BABY Blue 240 and Dark Blue 240 those two asshats don't belong anywhere in top 16. Too bad for me, Intercooling piping hit the radiator cap and water came out like WHOA! I had no boost after that. (that was weird). Thanks to Bau from Evolution Motorsport for letting me driver their car. That 86 is a fucking BEAST! www.em-racing.com -Al |
