insignificant posts

i have noticed a slight increase in the amount of people "passing through" this section and making useless posts such as "i agree" or just reiterating what somebody said and not adding anything useful.

i can, of course, remove these posts; that is, if you want me to. hopefully this would reduce the number of "section trolls." so, just let me know what you want me to do.

its your world travis.

but i'd say its not worth the time. having to scroll down just a little bit, i mean it takes 2 secs to read "i agree", its not like your saving time for anyone really, just making more things for you to do.

it's not to save people from reading stupid crap......it's to keep the people that really have nothing to offer the section out. it's not like there's that many threads in here that i can't keep track of them anyway.

in the end, a forum is only as good as its members.

In most cases, ppl are just uping their post count...or they have trouble reading and leaving a thread w/out putting in their peice for whatever reason.

I say delete anything that doesn't add to the topic.

Well, as far as deleting off-topic posts without explanation, I have no problem with that. It saves server bandwidth and cuts down on BS. Whenever I close a thread or edit a post, I'll give an explanation, unless the reason I'm doing it is utterly obvious (flamewar, etc).

i'll leave your little rant up this time.......

1) this section was created so certain people don't have to put up with the misinformation, and ignorant BS that takes place elsewhere. i was put here to ensure that these things don't trickle over onto our side of the fence
2) i will continue to moderate this forum as i see fit. there will be no BS here, and if you have nothing to add to the discussion, your post will be removed, end of story.
3) if mark doesn't like the way i do things, he can strip me of my moderator status and i won't really care
4) what you want from a forum isn't what ALL MEMBERS want. i'm pretty sure i more than farily represent what the people in this particular section want.
5) if jeff wanted to ban you, that makes at least two of us
6) do you have anything to offer this section?
7) if you don't like it, find another sandbox to play in

James, name one thing useful that was deleted.

Whether someone gets flamed or treated badly on this forum has nothing to do with their experience (newb or expert) but whether they have a head on their shoulders or if they are just a dumb as **** little kiddie looking to talk **** about the latest JDM trends and/or doesn't care to do any work (search or otherwise) on their own.

I'd like to think that this motorsports section is the one place where people truly interested in racing can get away from all the nonsense that saturates the rest of the forum.

I think travis being a mod is a great help to this section, if you saw the thread in 'suggestions/feedback' most people who participate in this forum supported the "tnord for mod" effort (heh), well knowing (and likely appricating) how harsh he can be.

If you posted things bad enough to make jeff want to ban you, you obviously aren't helping the forum.

I wonder why your also the only person complaining about tnord's moderation...

"what is the sign of a good king- one that is a tyrant or one that explores the thoughts of the people?"
Isn't travis (the 'king' in question) the one who started this topic, to see what the people wanted?

i hope you enjoyed your last post james, because it will likely be your last in this section.

with that said.........discussion over, and with no significant opposition to my suggestion.........consider it policy.

what if lets say some1 askes a question...

and there are 15 responds already.. so 1 read all the responds to make sure that the question hasn't already been answered or should you just post the answer..

you might be just restating some1 elses words with really doing it on purpose or doing it to boost your post count.

but then agian.. i dont think they would really care if it got deleted if it really was a repeat....

I'll go you one better -- take a look at the member list. Guess who's missing?

Do you honestly think this section would look like such sh!t if Travis were still around?
