Change
So, we have all seen those Obama "change" shirts/posters/images.
My question is... For those who support Obama and this "change", what does CHANGE mean? I would like to know. discuss.

Well this country is pretty bad off right now and picking a president can only make it worse. Esp. if you picked Obama. Seriously the guy is an idiot, not a GW Bush Idiot but a different kind of Idiot, Bush was set on his ways and was just an idiot. Obama is so wishy washy that he is an idiot. Looks like Biden will be president after about say 6 months.

Maybe if you learned how to read you would see that I said "It's a slogan to make people think that he will actually be different from any other candidate looking to make money, and make himself look good." Maybe I wasn't clear in saying it but no matter who the candidate they are always A. Looking out for #1 which is themselves, and B. Will say anything to get you to vote for them.

Change was a good slogan since for the past eight years the media has been constantly whipping up the anti-GWB, GWB is the devil sentiment and BHO took advantage of that.
Compare how BHO ran during the primaries against HRC and how he magically came towards the political center for the general election. With the help of the media, who never exposed any of BHO's questionable positions in issues the public was fooled. If you only watch the MSM and believe everything they say, BHO sounds like the best thing sliced bread. Don't be surprised if with the majority in both the House and the Senate, his policies take a sharp turn to the left on many areas including guns, freedom of speech, energy, taxes, etc. and there will be a change that many people won't like, because if you look at the map, most of the country is still red and based on the popular vote the country is still pretty much 50/50. As an aside, when BHO gets inagurated, will Supreme Court Justice Roberts be allowed to say his full name like they have for every other President? Think about it.

And that's why this country's political system is fucked. Regardless of whether or not I agree with you is moot. As long as the country is split 50/50 we most likely won't get anywhere productive. I'm sorry but 51% certainly doesn't seem like a majority. |

Ok well if you used logic you would see that your post came right after mine and you had not quoted anyone directly with what you were saying. Try taking a bit of your own advice.

well, maybe he is actually different?
strange, how he might actually be? wow, w/e oh, and change, why do you think everyone keeps calling him a damn socialist? (well actually it IS because people are fucking morons, socialism is only old USSR or mao-ist china, but if you mean social democracy then yes, that is pretty much what he has been saying and it means that maybe, maybe, the bullshit that reagan started 30+yrs ago will finally be put right and america wont be the laughing stock of the developed world. We are the laughing stock of the developed world, period. Why we are can be discussed if you want, although you can probably guess which side i will be arguing, however the basic fact that people find americans to be a bit of a joke is incontrivertable. They may fear or respect us but we are a bit of a joke because we are always (red and blue) holier than thou and yet our country ranks on most social (poor, healthcare, education, etc.) measures about equal with 3rd world countries. |

Fair enough then. But you have to admit it seems to come off a little snide. Change is a general term (which, to be fair, both candidates have used in the latter part of their campaigning) that is meant to be a diversion from the "past 8 years" mentality. I believe Obama made a speech somewhere saying that change can mean different things for different people. I guess that sums it up best. |

This is how I feel about this election...
I'd say that I have seen Obama advertisements EASILY 10 to 1 for McCain. CHANGE... ok great Change what. I am just worried about all the people... the "record amount of people" that vited this year for Obama and "change" when they have NO idea what is even going on. As far as I'm concerned, the record number of voters is useless. What good is a million voted for a guy if those voters have no idea what is even going on. Anyways..... I hope the country still stays at the top of the world with this "CHANGE" I'm not so sure it will....

And if you didn't grow up during the Reagan presidency don't comment on it. I still remember before Reagan having to do fallout shelter drills in case the USSR attacked and hearing on the news that Soviet bombers were patrolling the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Granted it wouldn't have mattered, but we can all thank him for winning the Cold War and getting both ours and their nukes off hair-trigger alerts.

Another problem with this country. People can never get enough. As long as all people care about is themselves.. unfortunately the hard-lined conservative followers are correct.. nothing will change for the better.

Spread the wealth? Shit, he'll be taking what little wealth we have (middle class) and giving it to the people who decided to drop out of highschool, not use a condom, and now live in a trailer with 6 kids working at McDonalds. Thats not my problem, thats theirs.

And on that note I must digress...changing peoples' minds won't happen...there IS a difference between "socialism" as you seem to define it and social democracy...watch out...those socially-democratic Canadians are poised to strike at our American hearts, minds and wallets... |
