Is there any after market throttle body upgrades for the S13's? If so, where did you find them...

As it is, the KA throttle body is very large @60mm. Even the throttle bodies on the Z32's were similar or smaller. All I know of is a MAFS upgrade, to the Mustang Cobra MAFS. There is a bit of rewiring, but supposedly this upgrade can get more air to your intake manifold.

yeah me too, it'd be nice to archive. ive looked and seen the mustang cobra MAF thing alot, but i never see how to do it. can anyone help out? it should be a fairly cheap mod considering all the cobras out there that woulnt mind sacrificing a MAF to mE! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

You can't just pop it in there. You need an ECU tune or a Super-AFC to control it. The ECU will be looking for the OEM signal, and the Cobra MAFS won't be sending the right electrical info. So, you have to take that into account. $$$ upgrade.

Yeah, I know. Sucks, doesn't it?! I hate bursting bubbles like that, but that's the truth. I'd love to get one for my SR, but I don't have money for the ECU upgrade or SAFC. D'oh!

Prototype Engineering
[email protected] Email Daniel Frey and let them know you a member here and they should give a group buy price. Improve throttle response and high-end power with a custom machined over bored Throttle body. The Throttle body is first Bead blasted. Stock throttle body is 60mm. Prototype Engineering’s will be 63.5mm at the butterfly valve and also be flared with a series of angled grinds. The final intake diameter will be 70mm. We then hand polish the inside until it is smooth. A custom Aluminum butterfly is machined that is matched to the over bored Throttle body. It is then reassembled and sent to you. |
