CA18DET rebuild need advise
hello, I think you guys always see this post but I'm going to post this again because I see people have different set ups and everything. To start i have a 200sx with auto transmission CA18DET engine. I'm still learning so please advise me. I'm collecting parts before the rebuild, I have arp head bolts and studs. Tomei cams its written as 2585 which i research is 265 with 8.5 mm. For exhaust and intake. I have a general overhaul kit (Fuji) and a gates racing timing belt. so I just want my car to be reliable thats all. Currently it spits out white smoke but i just want to overhaul it anyways. Also convert the manual transmission but thats a long way to go. I just want the heart to be pumping healthy. So the plan is to get a gt28 turbo, 550 injectors, Aem fuel pump and a safc neo or emanage ultimate, supertech valve springs. Piston reuse but change to aftermarket piston rings. Since I'm buying stuff one by one. I'll update from time to time what did i buy this week or this month. Do help give me advise on what i should take precaution of and what brand i should not touch. Thank you

Looks like you have it pretty well under control. I could not imagine putting that engine back in however, without swapping the transmission. You are 3/4 of the way done with a transmission swap when you pull the engine.

that was what I was talking about. when the engine is out, might as well swap the trans at the same time. Save you the hassle of doing it again.
