altamont is gay. Ncda keeps flaking on their events. This is complete bullshit.
Here's a suggestion...ditch altamont. I know it's really convenient and they give you the track for FREE(yes that's FREE) but you cant keep taking registrations and money and then ditching people cause you're not making enough money. You shouldnt be in it to make money right now. You should be securing your future customers.

Too bad it had to get cancelled. NCDA is the only one really trying to promote any type of track drifting in Norcal. There really aren't any other tracks around here that allow drifting. Sears and Laguna certainly don't.
If it was on Saturday I would have signed up. Can't make Sundays. I had a blast the last 2 times I was at Altamont. I was finally getting the course down. Walls aren't scary, just don't stare at them. I don't even notice them when I'm out there.

Ok to set the record straight.
NCDA has lost money on all the last drift events at altamont. We dont get the track for free. (if we did then why would it be cancelled?) We have to pay for. Track, Insurance, Cleanup, Medical, and fyers. I go out there all day and instruct, and i dont get paid. You guys just have to understand that we are not Nasa, that allready has the track for that day, and it doesnt cost them anymore to host an event. No disrespect to anyone, but lets show some support, remember when drift events were only in so cal? It may be like that again if we dont get out there and do it.

Did you forget that one guy that hit the wall was generally driving poorly the whole day (the Supra).. another guy was driving a pink car he wasnt even used to, and the last guy.. well, I don't remember who else hit the wall. I disagree with Luke's assertion that you just gotta go out there and "push yourself" when there's walls around, however. Just cause you're on a track doesnt mean you drive past your limits. I'm not making excuses for it. But there are always factors that come into play. Fact is, shit happens. Whatever. Frankly if you're worried about hitting a wall, maybe we should all stop driving in the hills too. It's no different really. Except that you're paying money to go on the track. You go up to the twisties, you take the risk of hitting a car/a tree/a deer/flying off the cliff/etc etc etc But its free! And I'm sure you, and most of the other people here do it, so how is it any different? Except for the fact that you're paying $100 to do it on a track, and don't have to worry about flying off a cliff or killing someone (yourself included?) I'd rather hit a concrete wall wearing a helmet than fly into another car without a helmet on. But no, lets not go to the track and practice in a controlled environment. Cus there's a wall. Fuck that wall! I'mma go drift in the twisties instead. Ain't no walls up there! And it's free! You don't wanna hit shit? Too bad, that comes with the territory. You drift, you're bound to hit something. Concrete walls or not. If your car is a daily driver and you're worried about smashing it, you shouldnt be drifting it. |

Var i understand your concern, but with drifting comes the chance of breaking shit. Just like in the mountains, if its not a wall, tree, other car or a cliff, then it will be something. When ya going to call me for your turbo upgrade??
Ohh this is Luke. on Bobbys sn.

it is unacceptable for me to get my car sideways around walls whether it be in the mountains or the track. The only way you can really learn how to drift is to push your limits...you have to find out your car's limits as far as angles and such...it's not fair to for newbs like me to practice in a zero tolerance environment. p.s. whenever your garage is available.

Bullshit the 3 above statements are false, how long have been drifting? bullshit the soCal guys won't kick our asses, no offense but if you or any of the guys that have gone to altamont, and I do know your skill Ive been to all the events there, Im not sayin that your a bad driver, but anyways if you or anybody from Altamont went down to the Drivers Search in SoCal none of you would place, and Im not saying that Im good or anything because Im not, I wouldn't place either, but it just goes to show you that the skill level in SoCAl is alot higher than up here. And that is a FACT!!! dont even try to counter that.

and if your affraid of hiting a wall or anything, then you should NOT be drifting, when you are driving on a race track and you purposely kick the back end out at a high speed, you have a good chance of crashing, its not always going to go as planed, if that's not okae with you then you should give up drifting. Ive crashed my car twice and Ive crashed my friends car once, it sucks, but you cant let it scare you, otherwise you'll crash again, and those statements I made earlier are not false!

also very sneaky of you to change your statement from anyone in norcal to anyone in norcal from altamont. Kind of like weapons of mass destruction to possible programs of weapons of mass destruction

sorry to drag this on but i still dont agree with you. when you are driftin at buttonwillow, or in a lot(like drift day or whatever), your chances of crashing are SLIM to NONE. in fact i dont even know when the last time was that someone crashed besides at altamont(into a wall) and irwindale(into a fucking wall) fuck oval courses. only nascars deserve to be crashed into walls.

Cool down guys, no need to bash each other. It's just not worthed. We are all drift lovers and nothing will change that. I know we have different opinions but we all still fall under one thing, WE LOVE DRIFTING AND RACING.
Im working things out with Sac SCCA to have a drift event for beginneers and advanced drivers (See my other post "Sac SCCA Drift Practice Event in the works"). It's not going to be anything fancy but it's a beginning. Have Fun not Hate!

i just thought of a fun analogy.
you guys know about balance beam right? imo those people are fucking crazy. good chance of falling off and fucking yourself up. i GUARANTEE NO ONE starts to learn balance beam on a real balance beam. and NO ONE criticizes them and says, "if you're afraid of falling off, you shouldn't do balance beam" once they get good, then they get on the real thing, and the chances of falling off are way less than beginners. |

If you guys were at the may 30th event. Then you prob saw me drifting. If you noticed, i wasnt doing anything crazy. I was just going out, and taking the same line all day long. Giving people rides to show them the correct line and such.
However the day before in course setup, and practice. I was drifting the big banking, and was suprised to have not kissed the wall. If you are trying to learn more, and crash then you are cool. If you are trying to go beyond your limits, and crash! all you will learn is not to do that again.

exactly right luke. thank you. all you will learn is to not do that again. if you go beyond your limits and you spin out and DONT hit a wall, you will try to push it again to the edge without spinning out and will learn to take your car at a higher angle through the turn. BTW i still think you were doing better than anyone out there on may 30th although you were smooth and conservative, if the walls werent there i know you would have been going balls out.
