nissan-parts-dealer.com and their genius staff

so i decide to order some brand new oem trim bits for the car, right? this company didnt have any illustrations for the parts in question. due to this i decided to email them and make 100% sure what it was i was about to order:

Weatherstrip LeftFastback, Weatherstrip LeftFastback are these two parts the black metal parts that hold the rubber weather stripping along the A pillar?

so they reply:

Dealer Reply:
Date: Thursday, March 17 2005 08:44 AM
What weather strip are looking for?The one that goes along the a pillar where the side door window seals against?Or the rear hatch weather strip?Or are looking for mouldings?Try to be more specific. Thanks!

so i reply:

this is the second time i've written you people and its the second time i've been very specific and its the second time you've completely failed to interpret anything i've tried to convey.

what is METAL, goes along the Apillar at the edge of the roof near the doorways and HOLDS THE WEATHER STRIP?

the end.

i dont expect to hear anything from them but i'd rather not hand my credit card over to a bunch of jackasses that can't understand a very simple straightforward description. lets see, whats the only thing that goes along the a pillar, is metal, black, and holds the rubber weather stripping?

.....

Who friggin' cares.... a post about you being a dink to someone is definitely nothing new.
So they didn't fully understand and tried to make sure they knew exactly what you wanted.... wow they suck.
Hopefully they get their shit together and just start sending out what they think you might want....

twice and yes. i used the exact names for the parts in question as is standard when submitting a form to have a questioned answered about these particular parts that do not have visual representations on the site.

i didn't mean to imply that this was anything more than comical. perhaps you should lighten up.

Just take a little drive down to a Nissan dealership, go to the parts department, make nice with a parts person get to know him/her and after a while you will get a discount. My parts guy knows me by my first name types in my car before I can tell him what it is, and says what will it be today? On top of that he gives me a better than 20% discount. I know it means leaving your house, and the comfort of the Internet but it's not that bad when you get Oem parts cheaper than aftermarket.

Yeah seriously you need to chill out how can you be mad that they wanted to make sure they were sending you the right part. Quality and not sending you the wrong part seems to be important and they are smart to send another email to make sure instead of shipping the wrong part or having to exchange it. Even if they knew exactly what you wanted you should be happy they are on top of it. And I guess that you probably never make mistakes and seriously if you are pissed that they didn't know just what you were talking about by some half ass description instead of a part # or proper part name you need to realize how customer service works man.

NEVAR! UNTHINKABLE!

Anyway, yes, you need to CHILL OUT, son.

Maybe they didn't get what you meant. Maybe they're slow. Who knows. In any case, give them the benefit of the doubt, and see if they can figure it out.

You're getting parts for less than what the dealer charges, I assume, so chill the fuck out.

Otherwise, take your ass to the dealer, get a diagram from them with the P/N's, and then call these guys back and give them the #'s so you don't have to make another post on Zilvia about this.

this was all done on their site. you have to log in to reply and view messages. you log in, set up your car model and make, then click the part you need more info on. this automatically puts:

the conditions here are:

-black
-metal
-they are part of or are an assembly that holds a weather strip
and
-they extend along the A pillar of the vehicle in question

he knows that its a 1990 240SX fastback, that i need two of them, AND that they cannot be a weatherstrip.

yet they reply with:

What weather strip are looking for? <--- wrong
The one that goes along the a pillar where the side door window seals against? <--- wrong, why would a seal hold a seal?
Or the rear hatch weather strip? <--- way wrong
Or are looking for mouldings? <--- No, you moron how many other parts bolt to the A pillar that hold that rubber thing called weatherstrip?!

then the Ahole wants to tell me to be more specific? its pretty obvious at this point that the only way i can be clear enough to convey my point is to circle it in crayon on a photo and mail it.

if there were a way i'd send a pic to these automotive idiots because clearly they don't know how to use the parts computer and look up the items in question. maybe they dont exist with visual representation in the whole nissan automotive parts database but i really doubt nissan would be that short sighted. this is the second time i tried to obtain these parts from this company and just as the last time their problems with the written word are too steep to overcome.

sure i make mistakes but this isn't one of them.

p.s. this is me sharing an event not asking for help but i guess some of you would like to think i'd need your help over something so trivial...

When I order parts online, I tend to just call to make sure I'm getting the correct stuff.

why dont u just go to the nissan dealership and point it out what u want.. or go to a bodyshop and do the same.....???? its better visually just to see what ur talkin about then just by email..... why not just give them the nissan part number it would save all the issues of even decribing it...

Sometimes overestimating the competence of an individual and their ability to FUCKING READ what I have put forth to them to find the information they seek is the reason for misunderstanding... This is clearly one of those cases. I preemptively tell you EVERYTHING I know you will ask me and you have still tailored your response as if I don't know what the fuck I am asking for? Cool, I won't deal with you and will tell a bunch of people.

... a customer experiences a GOOD time in his dealings, he MIGHT tell 3 people, word of mouth
... bad? he tells those same 3 people in such a vehement manner that THEY tell 3 people each, he emails 10 people whose voices he has never heard and THEN posts his dissatisfaction to the internet for thousands daily to see.

... I can't say I blame him for being pissed at this braintrust he has attempted to deal with

It's really tough to figure out parts like that. Do you have one of those newspaper kind of parts list? like the ones that are sold on ebay a lot, or actually, zilvia still has some uploads in their Tech section.

I'm pretty sure the part you're looking for is in there, and you could get a part number easily from that.

Weatherstrip LeftFastback, Weatherstrip LeftFastback are these two parts the black metal parts that hold the rubber weather stripping along the A pillar?"

Your description is pretty vague, try to improve on your interpersonal skills.

Haven't had any problem with them and I tend to use part numbers if the term on the site is too vague. I also called them on time about one of my orders and the person was very helpful and straightfoward. I'll have to agree with some people on this thread when I say you should chill out.

www.carfiche.com Learn it, love it, use it.

It's the same damn thing the dealers look at, get the part number and call them back.

EDIT
Went ahead and found the page that I think you want:
