When it comes down to it...I already own 3 SOHC's. In studying both blocks the bottom ends are all identical. The head(SOHC) with a cam and port work will outflow a DOHC head(stock). So that shouldn't hinder me.

I figure Ventura Racing made 700 rwhp a couple of years ago on the SOHC, and the DOHC are just now starting to get up to those power levels. So it'll work for power levels I want.=)

Yup that's out, it's just there to keep it sealed for now. It'll be replaced with a "Nissan" unit.

Ordered a vacuum block to split for the brake booster, fpr, map sensor. Then I'm just going to use a T fitting up front for the throttle body and bov.

Also ordered a 90 degree coupler going between the turbo outlet and the intercooler piping, dang those things aren't cheap. The piping I had wasn't a tight enough radius to do w/o putting it up against the fender wall. Which I didn't like how it looked. So I'll actually install the piping Friday after that shows up.

When that's complete it's time to install and wire up the new sensors for the AEM. Map, IAT, Knock, and the gauges.(Boost/Oil Pressure for now)

Eventually I'll go through my harness and remove all the useless junk that I no longer need since I've removed so many sensors and stuff. Don't have the time or patience to tackle that right now though. I'll do that when I go through all the hassle of installing a roll cage.

Also when all this comes to fruition I'm going to setup a touchscreen to view/change my AEM's settings so I don't have to carry a laptop with me. It'll replace the current guage cluster similar to the MOTEC. Although it will be color and capable of playing DVD's, etc.

you should consider rotating the compressor so you can have that hot pipe sit a little lower

otherwise, the setup looks badass.. I never thought to just drop the subframe and do all the suspension at once.. great idea (if you can afford the down time that is)

Was already planning to do this, just didn't time before I had to run. Of course I had to snap pics first though. Since I hadn't updated it in awhile.

Looking good. I was wondering what you have done with the chassis. Seam weld, foam filled, roll cage possible. I am going to do as much as I can to stiffen the chassis because I also have a sunroof.

Right now the rear is seam welded, but haven't gotten to the front yet.

It'll eventually receive a cage and the front will be seam welded as well.

No I haven't, still running stock rotors. I've seen both the VR4 and Supra rotor upgrades, but I'm still not convinced they really do much. They may dissipate heat a little better, but there obviously is no added pad to increase friction. So right now I'm just going to side with the fact that I don't want to increase unsprung weight unless I have to.

Newbies, pay attention to this man. He knows where it's at and what to do.

Not buying bigger rotors because they increase unsprung weight? It's astounding to find another person who gives a damn about unsprung weight in this world. It is, in the words of a great '80s icon, most excellent.

I'm going to see exactly how good the stock brakes are. Use the best pads, best rotors, steel brake lines and see what the stock (aftermarket) system can do.

I understand your reasoning, but there is a point at which it'll border on a waste of time. The Z32 brake setup really is a huge step up from stock. I definately wouldn't go back to stock as they overheat quickly and chew through rotors quickly with race pads. It'll work short term but you'll be replacing rotors and pads so much more frequently that it will negate the advantages that it offers.

Having larger rotors does have advantages. While it does increase unsprung weight, and there is no additional friction material, the caliper is able to exert a greater torque on the wheel since it is located farther from the center of rotation, increasing braking force while allowing for more heat dissipation. However, our cars are so light that I don't think it is worth it.

we drive 240's, not Miatas. Comparably, 2800+ still isn't that light. Besides, ANY car can gain much from better braking capacity.

The problem you run into is trying to adjust bias between the two. Going really large up front doesn't help if you don't make an upgrade that will offset it to the rears.

The Miata is an extreme example, not many cars are lighter. The 300zx brakes come off of a car that is what, 600lbs heavier than our cars? I have seen people use the bigger rotors off of 3000GT, and those cars are even bigger porkers, something like 1000lbs heavier than our cars. There is a point at which the marginal increase in braking power is negated by the increase in unsprung weight. 300zx brakes with good pads and good brake fluid are fine for 99% of us.

sykikchimp had a really good thread about upgrading brakes while maintaining stock brake balance. I think his conclusion was 300zx brakes up front with JDM 180sx brakes in the rear, or something like that.
