I'm Having Trouble Starting My Car Up =(

Okay everyone thanx for checking out my post, but i have a problem =/

My car doesn't want to start when it once to all the time anymore for some reason, i mean I myself can turn it on, but not often, and my bf is getting mad that i'm the only one that can turn it on so we have to find out the problem!!

I thought it might of been the battery, so we got a new one, but STILL it takes alot to turn it on, sometimes when you just leave the key in the ignition and let the battery warm up, it still wont turn on, so the only way is to kick the clutch a few(millions of years) to start it up, if ur lucky! lol

but my bf says its something to do inside the engine, but i said it might just be the starter, because it does turn on still, u just have to turn it on a certain way butI mean it is a 89" lol
and all the recent owners used it for drifting...so its been used alot for the right reasons lol

but please if anyone had this problem please help me out!!

please and thankyou everyone<3<3<3

Lol first you don't need to "warm a battery" Is it doin it with the engine cold, or hot, or all the time?

And when you say it don't start, do you mean it don't crank at all, or the engine cranking and cranking and sputtering and sometimes it start...

Need that info.

Either its the clutch safety switch or your ignition switch.

Clutch safetly: look for a button behind the pedal on the assembly, press the button and try to crank it. If it work either "jump the switch or adjust it and look for a plastic button on on the pedal "arm", if the plastic button is gone just jump the switch .

For the ignition switch : when cranking it jiggle the Key up and down when in the "Start" position. if it starts then the ignition switch needs to be replaced

well at 1st when i was at work, my bf was trying to start the car, but he said it made a crank sound, so he bought a new battery, but i think we figured it out, and its the starter that we need to replace, or maybe just smack it around a couple of times and might start again.

cause my bf said it happened to him once, and he just had to hit the starter with a hammer just lightly, and he never had another problem again.

if that mite not work what can?

I've tried that and yes i think i do need to replace the starter and the ignition, but my bf is stubborn and he thinks the starter just needs to be hit around alittle, but i honestly just want to replace as many parts as i can on my 240, cause i am the 4th owner and its been tho alot in its day<3

thank you guys for the help!!! helped me alot!!!

If it starts no probm after hittin the starter, that's your problem. but the ign could also be goin bad and adding to the problem. i'd say start with the starter.
If you're wantin to just replace everything, by all means, do it. but figure out the problem first so you know for later.
