I am about to purchase an S13 coupe with an RB20 (wish it was an SR instead but always a possibility in the future) already swapped. Owner said that tach and speedo don't work. Temp and gas works fine. He said that all I need is to swap out a newer cluster (92 and up) and it should work fine....is this true or is it more complicated than that. Also it idles real low and he has tried to adjust it (not sure exact measures he took to fix the prob) but it didn't work. Everything else with the car is in working order...doesnt smoke, leak. Oh I forgot, in the morning when he starts the car he has to give it a little rev and it's find...not exactly sure what that means but will ask for specifics. I have searched but not found any good answers. Thanks for any help.

It needs the speed sensor from the Ka trans for the spedo. Tach needs to re calibrated, or find a RB20DET cluster and swap tachs.

I have a problem with mine too.

I bought my car (S14) with the swap (S13 sr20det) already done, the speedo read like 100-120 when I was going estimate of 60mph. I assumed that the original owner did not swap the sensor from the sr to the original from the ka. So I got one from a friend that was out of a 93 240sx with ka. I installed that and got the same thing.

Does anyone know if you have a s14 you need a s14 speed sensor?

if its a S14 it needs the S14 speed sensor.
