ka-t not building boost, compressor surging, fluttering

so i just got my car running and ive checked all the clamps there all tight my boost guage reads 20 vaccum at idle and goes to 0 almost 1 psi under acceleration when i let off the turbo compressor surges assuming because the internal gate isnt opening ive adjusted my bov to where it wont open and it still wont build boost. wastegate arm and flap thing opens freely like it should i tested it before i put it on the car and it opened around 8psi. what could be causing this im a newbie and never built a turbo car. im gonna do a boost leak test but its not building boost period so it would have to be a pretty big leak id think i would notice or see/hear it

You should be testing under load, not in neutral.
you can't have compressor surge, flutter with out boost.
Check your vacuum lines, for restrictors, blockage or no vacuum/boost. You may have your lines connected wrong.
Don't try to build boost in neutral.

Also do you have an external waist gate? if you using the internal the floppy thing should not be flopping around.

im not trying to build boost in neutral, ive driven the car only to see if everythings working my bov open when you let off just like it should. the turbo spools up but the guage goes to 1 at about 3500 then drops to 0 all the way to 5 6 k i dont wanna push it until its tuned so i ease it up to spool hits 1lb then drops. turbo sounds great car run awsome just doesnt build more boost and when you let off it makes a compressor surge noise im pretty sure unless im not use to the sound of a bov. but if its only getting 1lb then the wastegate cant open correct? in turn it trys pushing it through the coldside or am i mistaken?. i tested the guage it reads all the way to 30psi and read 3, 4 ,5lbs just fine and it reads vacum correctly too. also i have a egt block off plate is this a spot worth checking for a leak? i put clamps on my intake pcv hose also just to be sure they werent leaking under boost, everything is clamped tight. also i can move the wastegate by hand then let go and hear it slap metal to metal so im pretty sure its closed all the way

waistgate does not have anything to do with compressor surge. Compressor surge is caused from the bov not opening and then the compressed air shoots back out the impeller making a BAD ASS sound. how does the car feel like your making power when it spools? A gauge can read vac and then when under boost start leaking. in vac it can suck the leak closed. then boost it pushes the leak out. so might be your gauge. what BOV do you have and what does the sound sound like?

oh well the bov doesnt make alot of sound i have it gehto rigged recirc because it kept stalling when id let off without it recirced. but i know it works. i tested the guage and it reads just fine the line could be leaking but the car itself doesnt feel like its making 8lbs of boost do some turbos just flutter a little? i have friends with turbo cars none of theres flutter like mine when you let off. and i mean when it spools up you can feel it start to make more power then it stops when the guage drops to 0 im gonna do a leak test and go from there il post back up if im come to a halt again. thanks

does your exhaust get loud like waistgate is opening? sounds like you have a boost leak somewhere.
