Adjusting Boost????

Ok,

So I been using my car with no boost controller or boost gauge. This weekend I put in a Hallman Pro RX manual boost controller and an autometer electronic boost/vac gauge. The gauge seems to work fine after installation following the instruction and I have the boost controller open all the way, so I'm still at stock psi right now, I didn't want to risk anything w/o knowing what I was doing.

My question is, what is the best way to adjust boost, using the setup I mentioned above. I'm a newbie into this turbo thing as you can tell and I'm trying to set it at around 9-10psi. I think that will be safe for the engine or tell what you recomend.

How do you have it connected

Do you have it running all on the same vacuum line? do you have it running off the top or bottom of the wastegate?

The boost gauge is running of the same vacuum line as the MBC. They are on the opposite side though. Boost (MAP) sensor vac is at the throtle body with a T which then goes to the MBC then from the MBC to the actuator.

Is this an S13 SR20DET? If so, with the stock T25 you can do 14 psi in the midrange with stock ECU/fuel/MAF. No more than that if you want the turbo to survive more than a few months.

If you're driving the car hard(like a track), I wouldn't go over 10 psi.

It is a blacktop SR20DET.

Thanks for your advice, but my question is, How do i adjust the boost, I know I got to turn the knob on the MBC, but as far as to how set it using the boost gauge. By the way I have walbro fuel pump, nismo regulator, front mount intercooler if that helps. Another question is, should the boost level on the gauge always be at 10psi while driving or it would just reach that point under WOT.?

^^ You have to mess around with the BC until it hits were you want it at on the Boost Gauge. This is why i use an EBC you can just set it.

No the Boost gauge shouldnt always be at 10psi if you are just driving normally. The only time it will go up is when you set on the gas.

I think the Hallman is a ball and spring, so turn the screw in to raise boost. It'll be pretty linear, so turn it in a full turn, go out for a drive going WOT in 3rd/4th gear and see what your boost is reading around 4-4.5k RPM. Adjust from there.

Boost is going to be built in proportion to how much throttle you're giving the car. Go drive the car with the boost gauge on it and all your questions and more will be answered.

For some reason I figured, from the way you wrote your initial post, that it was just a KA with a turbo slapped on. That's the only reason I asked about fuel, I didn't want to see your shit pop.
