Oh yeah - there are InnKeepers everywhere in that part of the world. Sorry C. As for Roxboro - I know some people are planning to stay there, but I'll be in Danville. B/c I come from the north, the IKWest is easiest for me. Plus, it's the sheeziest! THE Innkeeper is at 3020 Riverside Dr., Danville, VA 24541 (434.799.1202). The going rate appears to be $60/night for a double. At that price, the Holiday Inn is a good alternative... but you don't get this:
The InnKeeper West really is quite the show. I made my reservations today! |

Summit. Good question. I've got to see how work is going. I really want to go... but taking off three weekends in five weeks is tough for me to pull.

hey, I'd be willing to split... I was going to camp at the track but it's dawning on me that that might not be the best way to go (I'm just a cheapskate)

I'm in intermediate - #211.
I'll be designated picture taker and lap time taker (if I find a stopwatch) for the novice group. At the Innkeeper, I'll be on the farthest side from McD's on the ground level. Look for the grey 240 w/ tape residue on the doors from the last track event. |

Hey AKADriver,
The hotel is booked, I sent you an email and PM with the confirmation number, not sure if you got those. The reservation is at the Inn Keeper west. Let me know if you need any other info. -Matt |

Good to see all y'all bioatches making your plans For me, this week is going to fly by and I won't believe it when I'm rolling south Friday.
Matt - I see you are taking the KA+T. Nice. That ought to scare the bejezus out of your instructor! Looks like I'll be doing brakes at the InnKeeper or at VIR on Sat. a.m. since I didn't get a chance to put my pads on the front It also looks like I'll be heading to Summit in November, so for those of you going, I'll see you there. Don't forget to download and fill out your tech forms! Also, there is a schedule posted at NASA now. It is time to start thinking about what you will need. Some basic tools - just in case. Water - lots of water. A chair. A tent it you have one (it looks like we might get a bit of rain Sat.). Also bring a rain jacket/ poncho. Prevention will assure it doesn't rain! |

Do any of you guys have an Air tank? I was thinking of buying one, but would like to save as much $$ as possible.
We need a Zilvia Canopy that we can all chill under in the sun/rain

This is a track, not an autox
Air is there - it is free. Food is there - it is cheaper than a ball game. Gas - well, fill up in town, that's all I'm saying Canopy - I would have, but the one I want is $200. Maybe next year. |

Good obsevation. I don't know if cell phones work down there? If so, those will work. Are you driving down w/ Matt? He knows my last name and I his, so we can call the front desk. Otherwise, I'm heading down from DC w/ a buddy Friday around 3 (expected arrival around 7:30 or so).
You've seen Matt w/ his black eye pic? Anybody got any ideas? |

we could just plan a time to meet everyone in the parking lot. If you see another 240 in the lot when you get there.. park next to it. If you don't see any, then park where there is room for others to park next to it.. I will be getting there probably after 10pm though.. My roommate is comming and he has to work until 7pm. unless we can figure something out. (he has a Blue RSX-S.. Sure you guys will have NO problem figuring out which car is his..lol)

Ok that sounds good. Now to the next question....What's the best route from N. VA.
1. RT 29 runs straight down to it 2. 95 S to 355? (not sure if that was the name) over 3. 85 S down Any and all suggestions welcome

I took 95 to 355 down last time. Mark and I took 29 back I would have to say that 29 is a more direct route. The only thing you need to worry about is weekend out of town traffic.
If any one wants to follow me down I will be leaving the DC metro area between noon and 2 pm. That should be early enough to beat the rush. -Matt- |

Actually, we took 360 to 95 in Richmond coming home. Mike, Al, Dave, etc. took 29.
From reports, it sounds like 29 is better if you are leaving from the western NoVA suburbs and 95 to 360 if you are going from DC or Alexandria. Either is better than 95 to 85. The 95 to 360 route is what I got from the spiffy new Yahoo maps/directions page. I'll be leaving DC at about 3ish and meeting up w/ someone on 95. I just hope I actually get out of here at 3 |

Man, I wish i was going with you guys, but I just signed up here, and its too late. You all should have a blast, VIR is the best track in our area. Personally, I've been there twice already, once doing the south course, and once on the full course. The easiest way to get there is to take 29 all the way down. And there is a cheap little hotell in Roxboro NC. The rates there are like $30 per night, and its like 19 miles from the track. The hotell is called Budget Inn, and you can find the number to it from the VIR website. (www.virclub.com) Have fun guys, wish I was coming also.
-Dmitriy P.S. If you've never been to that track, be weary of turn 11a, it's a doosie. If you have no clue what im talking about, wait until you're there. lol. I love the oak tree... LOL |

Hey Dmitry. Are you going to Summit in November?
We don't get Oak Tree - my personal favorite spot for making lots of ground on my fwd friends - b/c we are just running north. 11a - isn't that the little right before Oak Tree? I own that turn... lift at turn in for South Bend... flat foot up the chute... stab brakes for 11a (if that IS the quick right)... turn in w/ gas... straight line to the outside curbing... downshift just before turn in for Oak Tree... gas... shift... gas... shift... gas... watch that ITR you just caught slowly walk you down the back straight BTW: New plan - I'll be going down 29 too in light of rain + Friday 95s traffic. |
