i do understand where you are coming from though...maybe on some level you arent adverse to having kids, but just overly paranoid (almost over compulsive) about having them unexpectedly/irresponsibly...so thats why you resent the idea so much? all your posts have the context of you having a kid right now and "robbing" you of your experiences...hell, i dont want a kid now either, but later on in life (maybe in 6+ years), its not even a question that i will...so i dont understand the "now or never" urgency...why cant you responsibly have a kid 5-10 years from now...goals, priorities, and attitudes towards things like this are ever changing...i wouldnt be too hasty... especially since you mentioned that your dream girl would be a woman that also does not want a kid...talking out of my ass (no disrespect if i offend anyone or anyones significant other), but id hate to meet the girl along with her baggage or "issues" that actually doesnt want a kid...not being sexist, its innate with women on a biological level and if they dont have the inclination or affinity towards motherhood/nurturing, id hate to see what other wires have been crossed...again, no disrespect, i know plenty of women and family members that fall under this category, but they either seem very unfulfilled with life or just not all there...

Your priorities and desires do change over the years. I have a coworker who is 45, almost all his life he had no interest in kids or even getting married. Didn't plan on ever getting married. Then he met the person that was right for him, got married, and at about age 40, had a kid. Now he talks about his kid all the time, is den leader for his son's Cub Scouts, etc.
I was never to interested in having kids. My brother and sister are 13 and 15 years younger than me, I grew up with babies in the house and had no interest in repeating that. But now I have a 4 year old and a 6 month old, and your attitude really changes when they are *your* kids. Can the be annoying? Definitely. Do I sometimes want to punch a wall? Sure. But when they smile at you, you forget all that bs.

There has been some misinformation throughout this thread but heres the good news, you can still give em the goop, and jizz in your pants; It just won't have any little swimmers in it.

Dude most women will not even consider marriage unless theres a chance of a baby.. Idk why but women love babies.... Literally .... if i ever had that done my girl would leave me because she always talks about us having a family . and ive messed with her saying what if i dont want kids ? and she literally says * i guess ill have to get fertalized then ... some girls are just determined to have em. But if you really look you will find some girl whos down to have a marriage with out any children.

Beyond a long laundry list of other traumatic events, I felt like I got robbed of those care-free years when I was younger, and am highly resistant to the idea of giving those up. 99% of the girls I met wouldn't qualify as long term girlfriends, spouses if out of the question, and as mothers, I wouldn't want to be within a mile of the cluster-F that would be... The current one however, is that really special chick... and maybe kids are one of those life experiences that you should have, and avoiding it might be robbing yourself of something truly unique. I have no advice for you and I really wouldn't seek this kind of advice on a car forum like Zilvia. Maybe a gay ass VW forum yeah, but not Zilvia.

I'm 30, got one last year. I'm a pretty normal guy...I do tend to be serial dater though. That said, I still use protection 99% of the time. I did it because I feel the same about kids as you do. Also, I'm fickle and I can't see myself liking, loving or tolerating anyone for 18 years. I'm also selfish, I like my life and I'm not gonna roll the dice because it's what I'm "supposed to do." I'm 30, I don't want to be 50 when I have my life back. Adoption - I can always adopt if my mood changes, there are plenty of great kids in bad situations, i can help them if I ever feel the need. Last, at my age, most girls I meet already have 1 or 2 kids and they're not in the market for more...the ones that are, I don't trust enough to believe them when they say "I'll stay on the pill until you're ready."
First, the procedure. It's the easiest surgery ever, literally 15 mins. The pain is minimal, take Friday off work, chill for the weekend, back to work Monday (Maybe Tues if you're soft or have a very active job.) Get a few bags of frozen corn from Wal-Mart ($0.88) and a case/bottle of your favorite beer/liquor respectively. The after effects. I still think about what my kids would be named sometimes...it passes quickly. Sometimes i'm sorry I didn't give my parents a grandchild, but that's minor...I don't really know my mom and my dad has his own life. That's really about it. The girls. if they ask, I tell em I can't have any. If they ask why, I say "It's personal." if they leave, they leave....I'm not willing to be with a girl that is only interested in me for my baby batter anyway. That's just my 2/100th's of a dollar....follow your gut man.

Anyways, I know where you're coming from as I don't plan to get married nor do I want kids either. However I wouldn't go as far as having a vasectomy cause I never know what the future holds. It's possible to find someone with the same feelings towards kids. I have a friend that's married to a woman that doesn't want kids and he couldn't be anymore happier. A rare find IMO, in fact he found her overseas lol

Your judgment in posting this on a car site is questionable and shows the lack of common sense, if this was a serious dilemma.
A quick Google search brought up multiple health forums that are more knowledgeable and experienced about this topic. Posting this on a car site where more than half probably still live with their parents and/or still consider dropping their bare balls sack on others for fun. So too make your decision easier as well as doing the world a favor, please do the procedure. You definitely shouldn't procreate.

I think he just wants insite from others that have the same interests as him...
bottom line, i believe its reversible so get it done. Then if you sometime down the line actually change your mind for some reason just have it reversed.

My urologist told me "this is to be considered a permanent procedure, while it can be reversed, the chances of conception after the reversal hover around 50%." Not saying it's impossible, just passing on his opinion. Also, if you don't have kids they probably won't do the operation...unless you lie, they don't check.

I don't understand the lure of vasectomy. The procedure was invented to allow couples, who are married and have had all the kids they wanted, an alternative form of birth control. To allow the wife to be off "the pill" before she drops dead of a blood clot. Since it doesn't protect against HIV or any STD's, in the dating scene it's less than ideal.
As the old wise sage sam kinison said "If you don't trust the p**sy, why are you f**king the p**sy?"
