violent movement in the rear

Hey, I have an s13 and recently got wheels enkei rpf1 with n1 racing slicks already on them. I lowered the car about another 1.25inch right before i installed the enkeis. I started to drive and the wheels started shaking really hard. I stop the car, jacked it up and double checked the lugs and made sure it was all flushed and torqued. I started to go forward and it continued, then I backed up to see if it did that way but there was no shaking. I started wondering if lowering the car affected my toe and are the slicks making it worse bc of its traction. so I asked a friend and he told me I needed adjustable toe arms. I just wanted to know does this sound right? its shakes so bad its undrivable but only going forward. I can visually see the toe is really pointed inwards but would it cause that crazy shaking? keep in mind it didn't do this with my other wheels just before i took them off and the wheels i installed has no bends and are balanced. all the bushings are fine as well. thanks guys

i seemed to have the same violent shaking in my '90 hatche'

i dont know if you have the same set-up but from my standpoint the connecting arms on the rear wheels of my car were the issue. it turned out that the adjustment bolts on my traction rods/arms had come loose (on just one side mind you) and this caused my traction rod to self adjust as the car was moving!!? thus causing the entire car to literally begin shaking like it was just looking for a tree to hit or something stupid...

you said you have AM wheels but not anything about upper/lower/traction/toe rods in the REAR check your bolts to see if they are all tight and perhaps seek another alignment.

after i tightened just the two retaining bolts on the traction rod (just the one side) the car sings down the road without any death wobble.

hope this helps

How fast were you going when it started shaking? Are you wheels balanced properly?

the only aftermarket part is my spl ruca. it was professionally installed and was completely tightened that was weeks ago. when i drove the car to my fathers house to put on the new rims on, my car was fine and no movement at all. the only thing done to the car right before i put on the enkei was i lowered another 1.25inch. so i think dropping it cause it. after i lowered it the toe seemed off. but would that make it shake like that? or does the slicks also contribute to it?

The toe is off badly enough that the slicks are wheel hopping. That's why it only does it with slicks and not in reverse.
