It was good for a rattle can job, ended up Por-15ing the bay later on.

So after the car was back from the body shop and had a photo shoot it was onto restoration.

Oddly enough Nissan Japan still stocks a lot of 32 parts 20+ years later.

Nismo metal intake gaskets

About $1300 bucks in parts in this photo. OEM front and rear wheel bearings, balljoints, kingpins, HICAS joints, seals and bushings. Completely redo the 25 year old suspension.

OEM rear finishers (the glue lets out and they sag)

New 355mm floating discs to replacing the aging ones on my F50 kit.

Nismo braided lines, balljoint spacers and front upper arms with some spare axles.

And intake back off again for the THIRD time now but on my terms haha

...To make room for my OEM powdercoated intake and battery relocate.

Remember when it was stock?

After.

Got something else back from the shop as well. R33 GTR rear brembos and my F50 kit coated.

New lines, pads, rotors, caliper seals and fluid!

Installed and bled.

Back on the ground.

Kept setting a 4WD error light, checked the code and got a G sensor fault.

Pulled the console and saw the error.

Replace analog with digital!

Next was for some headlight restoration.

All pulled apart.

Glued and sealed.

Few more photos during Cherry Blossom season.

These would be the last photos before the worst struck...

Nah, Nissan guys in Japan are crazy hardcore. There's quite a few stories of the older heads pretty much forcing them to continue to produce a lot of the older parts.

Sorry for the cliffhanger, props for the Negan gif!

So where we last left the car was running good and everything was looking up.

One day I was driving home from work and the car just shut off. Went to restart and heard a very not normal metal on metal noise. Stopped cranking and towed the car home and started digging.

Pulled the cam covers and front cover, wasn't looking good...

That pulley isn't supposed to be be like that..

Front cover removed and cleared.

The fault was a defective idler pulley bolt and rb26's are interference engines so that meant this head was toast.

Onto pulling the motor then!

Removing minor things ahead of time

Official tow vehicle! 66hp!!

Motor out!

Decided now was the best time to clean the bay and replace hard to get to parts.

Stripped down

Scuffed and taped

First coat

Replacing leaky P/S lines!

Out with the old

Tightening up the steering system, S15 metal rack bushings and solid steering shaft bushing.

Next was to ship the motor to the builder and open the checkbook

Sat down with my builder and set my expectations and budget. 500 RELIABLE horsepower. Didn't want to have to touch the motor again and wanted to freshen up everything internally.

We went with Eagle rods, Weisco pistons, .5 mil over bore, N1 oil and water pumps, Jun crank collar, Tomei oil pan baffle, Tomei engine gasket kit (including HG), APR head stud kit, Cams and cam gears, single turbo conversion!, Haltech!, upgraded 750cc injectors, 300LPH fuel pump, Orc twin clutch, Tial WG, 33 GTR transmission and a few more things I'm probably forgetting.

With everything set, dropped the longblock off and he got to disassembly.
The block would head to Tomei in mainland for a .5 mil over bore, hone and deck.

The head well..

With all the valve guides broken the builder recommended sourcing a new head to keep us in budget. Thankfully a local friend came through with HKS cams and cam gears for $300!

Coming apart

Jun collar

Old drive length

Finished result!

Still stocking parts! External oil cooler, R34 splitfires (Igniter delete), coolant swirl tank.

Tomei baffle

A few weeks later I got the call and said the motor was ready for pick up!

Old twins out

At the shop going back in (Anyone know how to embed Youtube links?)
https://youtu.be/Vr0weGkKRXc

Back at home, waiting for more parts to show!

Scored a awesome deal on a Greddy 4" intake and hard pipping kit! Also meant I would have to pull the intake in the car... again...

Figured new motor why not new look as well....

Covers are back from the body shop. Porsche Mint Green with rainbow flake.

Installed

Oil cooler installed and Greddy I/C pipping

As well as the PIA Greddy intake

As far as I can go, need the Tuner to fab and finish.

Car getting picked up.

Photos I got two weeks ago

The build is current as of now. Still waiting for the final touches and tune, the shop is in drift season mode right now, so the car is on the back burner.

I'll update once I get some more photos and hopefully a video or two.

Just a quick update, more parts are coming in.

OEM window and door seals. These rip near the top and 32's have pillar-less doors.

Heat management items

And ZLeds coming through with the new LED rear tail conversions!

As for the 32, shop said they finished some more small items and are working on a motor in for another customer 32. They're trying to schedule a 2 for 1 tune when the tuner stops in.

Way long past due update!!

It's been a busy summer for me, not so much for my 32. As it has been sitting at the tuner's shop while he was busy working and building for drift events in mainland. But finally, some progress has been made including starting and driving this past weekend. The car is now getting a inspection tune to pass shaken next week then street tune hopefully the week after.
It was such a relief to see it run again and I'm excited to get her back home.

Also, I got orders to mainland and I'll be heading there next summer for another four years of Japan! Thinking of a 33 or NSX to accompany the 32.

Any-who, onto the photos.

Coolant return plumbed for the swirl pot.

P/S reservoir mounted

Down pipe finished

And the car as I saw it today

Forgto to add, snagged these a while back for a good price! LMGT4's in 17". Perfect for track wheels as 17" tires are noticeably less expensive.

When I first picked them up, no rash but nasty as hell.

After a trip to the sandblaster.

At the paint shop.

Back from paint!

And new tires just showed up today.

That's a hell of a journey, thanks for sharing.

Is there a reason why you didn't powder coat the rims?

No problem, its been a big project for me time and money wise. Good news is I'll be able to enjoy all the tracks in mainland!

I have a good connection with the paint shop here locally, painted my car, valve covers and now these wheels. They give me a great price and the quality is top notch. Whereas local powder-coating shop quoted me about 3 times as much as the paint job. Joys of Okinawa.
