S13 koni struts - part numbers
Hey all.. I am looking to do the suspension on my S13 next and I have decided to go with KONI yellows 8610 with GC coilovers (Seems to be good for a DD). I am having trouble figuring out the correct part number for the struts. I have searched all around but nothing is coming up. There are several versions of the 8610 strut insert and I wanted to make sure that I get the correct set for the front and rears of my S13. Thanks in advance.
PS. I also called KONI and they advised that they make struts for S13s 8641-1364SPORT 8040-1080SPORT What is the difference between those and 8610 and why would I want to use one over the other? |

Why do you need 8610's for DD? Go with their non adjustable Yellows (IIRC, they're called Sports) and convert them with coilover sleeves since you're going that route to begin with.

I decided to go with the one way adjustable because they are almost the same price and it gives me a bit more room to play with when matching with the spring rates etc..

What is the price range this whole setup is going to put you in?

8610s require custom housings to work. They do not bolt into stock housings.
http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=270829 To install koni yellows you have to cut up stock housings and put in the inserts. |

Correct, I understand I need to use the stock struts and drop in the inserts, I just need to know what 8610-#### are ones for front and rear for the s13 platform.

What?
I think you're confused. If you run the 8610 Race shocks, you cannot use stock housings. You use the 8610-1436 (or the 8611-1257) both front and rear, it's just the housings are different. Koni yellows =/= 8610/11. |

Ok, now I'm really confused... I thought that the 8610 was the sport and 8611 the race. For example http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000EC...&robot_redir=1 here the 8610 is called the sport. I guess what I am looking for is the one way adjustable sport insert that will fit into the old housings. I was under the impression that the 8610 fits into the old housings once they are gutted... That's why I'm here though because I want to get this right. Thanks for your patience.

Yeah, you are confused.
the 8610 you linked to is for a subaru wrx or something. the 8610-1436RACE and 8611-1257RACE are entirely different and require custom housings. 8610 are single adjustable, 8611 are double adjustable. They are both from the RACE line of shocks. Koni yellows = sport. Koni yellows for s13 (the part numbers you got from Koni) go into stock housings in the front and are a full replacement in the rear. |
