seriously... if your down to build a track... like you got money and inversters... well then you need to take into a lot of things for consideration

personally i would love to see it in the san diego/tamecula area

it needs to be technical and realistic and have elevation changes something that would be more of a bottom of 4th top of 3rd kinda track. you need to incorperate a skid pad for beginners. you need to think out side of a "hey i want a drift land in my backyard" and into "hey i want to build a multifuction race track that EVERY ONE can enjoy". You need to think about motorcyclist, grip drivers, time attackers, gymkhana, go-karters, bicyclist. that way you are constantly doing business despite automotive trends. shit even build a drag strip, and a dirt track.... or even a bmx/moto cross track..

Last year we saw so many tracks and event holders, that people started having a hard time filing 6 spots.
so lets just let all these new tracks and returning tracks ride for a minute. Lets see how WSIR works with the couple guys trying to work within the new insurence rules.

And then if the events are still over flowing, lets look into opening another venue.

Just my thoughts from running and staffing events as well as media for the last 2 1/2 years.
yeah all that negativity and arguing brought around over "a thought".

eric, let her be, if she can open a track of biblical proportions than let her, i really wanna watch how it will all unfold.

Ladii-Z let your experience in drifting and history of automotive motorsports reflect on this new track you're thinking of making.

DO YOUR THING.

I got an Idea, how about..

( If you are actually serious about making a new place) Instead of making this goliath super high speed drift madness, why not find some empty ass land like those vast fields in Beaumont and replicate a real Japan circuit. Or put all the good parts of all kinds of tracks into one.

*Just watch videos of Nikko, Bihoku, Meihan, YZ, Sekia Hills, Mobara, Honjo, and all of the Ebisu courses. They're all not the fastest shit out there, but I bet they're all super great to drive.

*3rd gear entry, variety of turns to link, walls, elevation changes or hills..

All the cool J ciruits share these factors in their tracks. I can bet my junky 2 toned heap of poop in the garage that the reason some Japan drifters are so good is because of the tracks they practice on. If you wan't inspiration or ideas.. You're doing it wrong.

It's as easy as watching youtube.

P.S. I like making things in BOLD

I want more tracks with walls. I don't wanna spin out on the dirt and be like oh look I fucked up. I wanna hit a wall and be like, man I sure learned not to do that again...and have some cool battle scars.

Fuck dirt, I <3 walls.

Im sure she has good intentions.

But if she wasn't a girl, and was just some dude with a couple hundred post, this thread would have gone way different.

I have noticed that Zilvia is full of Pussies, and I am looked at as some sort of gnarley asshole cause i state facts and truths.
This thread proves it. Bunch of pussies afraid to speak up, and me singled out somehow.

Its alright though. Just wait for the rep system to come back

If the resources needed to do this were really available I feel that slumming it on Zilvia would not be a necessity to design.

Fuk the rep system.
The only real thing wrong with this thread is how negative most people INSTANTLY become. Who cares if it's a pipe dream! You never know who may be watching any of these threads. Even though it's highly unlikely somebody with an assload of money or influence could be looking for a pet project. If it was me I don't know that I'd want to provide a track for such a negative and unjustly elitist crowd.
Don't like it? I don't care. It's my opinion.
If you can't contribute in a constructive manner then stop wastin YOURS and everyone else's time by spewing crap. If you don't like the topic IGNORE IT.

^^ I agree.

I, personally don't think anyone is getting singled-out for any of their opinions. Like a said before, I was looking for some INPUT.

I never said, "hey I AM going to build a track what would ya'll like"?
nor did I say "Just curious what you guys think of this and that?"

All I asked was, how far would you people (drivers), be willing to drive to a sick ass track, IF it were to come about. Simple question, simple answer.

Okie dokie?

And I'm sorry for being a girl! Jeeeeze. Honestly, I don't care to have special treatment from anyone because of it. Especially on the forums.
We should all be equal Zilvians...riiight?

Anywayyyyys. Chill out everyone. I don't need to close the thread, just answer the freakin' question, and we'll be straight! Coo?

Firstly, you DON'T know.

Please don't state things that aren't facts.

And obviously, the reason I posted the thread had nothing to do with the design of the track, it had to do with the location of it.

you should know how much of a waste the "pipe dream' threads are. you've been here long enough.

But if were gonna have one, then lets actually make one that states, "drift track pipe dream thread".
that would be interesting.
think it goes in offtopic, since this is a s chassis forum though.

Eric I can somewhat agree. However, on rare occasion pipe dreams can become reality. Not saying this thread is going anywhere but at least it shows that some are still optimistic. It just sucks when 90% of the responses are negative and some outright inflamatory.

Off topic? Maybe but it does have to do with "skilled driving" and is track related.

I for one encourage ANY new venues no matter how near or far from me they are. It will only benefit drivers to have a greater number and variety of places to practice and have fun. I'll go wherever if I feel it will be worth it. As it is right now I'm no less than 100 miles from ANY of the current venues. Hopefully someday I'll be able to attend regular events not so far away. But that will take a "dreamer" to make it a reality.

Like I stated earlier.
there are only so many "drifters" that can support the venues. As is, the venues are barely making it.
Its not like one will close either.
Its gonna be a couple that are gonna shut down at once.
We have already seen a number of organizations close down this last year.
And the year before that we had 2 or more events every weekend because so many organizers wanted to get involved.

thats why i stated to just let the existing venues survive for now, and lets see what happens. people need to look at the bigger picture, not just the philosophy that more tracks atomatically mean better.

Its like indian gaming casinos. one pops up and survives, 2 maybe, any more than that in the area and they all work against each other and all end up closing down.

I agree that we don't need another dozen parking lot "drift tracks". It would definitely dilute. The success of those that already exist.
I would definitely encourage the planning and development of another fully fledged Race Track somewhere between Los Angeles and
San Diego or between Ventura and San Francisco. Drifting by itself will not sustain a real track so it would have to be a legitimate one
which could be utilized by all forms of road based motorsports. Its a huge undertaking and involves more than most people ever imagine
but its good that it at least gets brought up. And there's no reason that it shouldn't or can't be discussed without hostility or massive
amounts of negativity. You just never know when the right person might be paying attention to the hopes and dreams of those willing to
express them.

ive got a 5th gear drift course near me, its called I-695 there is also , I-95, 295,195 895,395

point is, i have to agree with some of the other comments, if you are going to do this hooray awesome, but it would be in the best interest of the course, not to be designed as soley a drift course, but model it after some of the best time attack and auto x tracks in the world.

if you design a track for auto x and time attack than it can very easily be used for drifting and motorcycling as well.

as far as 5th gear drifts, go take an on ramp from one highway to another, on the east coast i really like 695 onto 95, but yeah take it as fast as you can without the ass ending sliding, then take it again and try to make the ass end give out. most drifts unless your pro, are in 3rd and 4th gear, depending on the gearing of the car most pro drifting is done in 4th gear.

130mph drifting would be cool but find someone with the balls and a track to practice it.

Coo?

the simple question, simple answer part, i PARTLY agree with, but you cant blame people for WONDERING when someone asks such a random question.. and for absolutely NO reason..?
